Do we all agree that Guckert/Gannon needs to be investigated?
Whether you are interested in the Gosch aspect or not, Jeff Gannon/James Guckert needs to investigated!

Seriously, how did he get into the White House, before he even was part of Talon news? He was asked that yesterday, and answered "I don't know, I guess it was just my turn "(bull shit).

Gannon, called when the Iraq war was going to be launched, hours before Bush himself told the world on TV. How exactly did he know that?

Plame.

Weird references to Senator Biden on his site.

There are so many pieces missing in this story!

So please don't dismiss investigating Gannon all together, just because you are weary of the Gannon-Gosch thing...

1. Gannon is a loose cannon
I don't underestimate his power, he has had a major role in the defeat of Tom Daschle and in the Plame investigation.

5. A loose cannon
is out of control. Gannon does not seem to be out of control. In fact, almost the opposite: he seems to have access to more of the controls than, say, the average prostitute. Your point about not underestimating his power is important: how did he access his power? And why doesn't the media have any explanation for? why he was/is able to use that power

8. Gannon seems like 2 people
one seems to be an almost childlike person, who says that people who receive money by politicians can still be fair about what they write about them,I am paraphrasing here. The other is the person who set up the internet thing, arranged to access to the white house, which would indicate a level of calculation which the other persona is not capable of.

2. That much is clear, I think, to just about everyone here.
The details we seem to differ on, but generally most people on DU get the big things right.

We all dislike Bush's policies.

We all want our government to do no harm at the very least.

And we all are curious as to exactly who Jeff Gannon is.

3. Isn't prostitution illegal?
Why hasn't he been arrested for soliciting?

17. But "Escorting" is legal
Although prostitution is illegal in most states, "Escorting" is perfectly legal, unless you get caught prostituting. To do so usually requires a sting operation type operation where money is traded for sex and one party is willing to testify that it happened.

If just advertising as an escort was illegal then law enforcement would have a field day with sites like these.

4. Definitely agree it needs to be investigated
I'm a college-educated journalist, who received my degree in journalism from an accredited, four-year university, and I can tell you that if I walked into the White House right now and sought a hard pass, I would be denied.

How is it that Gannon/Guckert received one?

7. Can you direct me to a DU post
where the poster, because of the ridiculous Gannon-Gosh nonsense, indicated that we should "dismiss investigating Gannon all together"?

11. That person needs to go back to sleep.
The world will continue to change without their understanding.

15. I think you're referring to my post
I never said we should stop investigating him, I just said that the majority of America doesn't care. Hear me out....

I think all of us here at DU were hoping that this scandal would bring B*sh down once and for all, but it didn't and it won't. We hoped the Terri Schiavo case would wake America up, but it didn't. We hoped that the 9/11 commission's report would change the election, but it didn't, and so on and so forth. We are living in such an ignorant country right now that no scandal is going to have a WaterGate effect.

That doesn't mean I think we should stop trying, but it just seems sort of fruitless to pin our hopes and dreams on Jeff Gannon.

I welcome any criticism or opposing veiwpoints... if you can convince me otherwise, I'm willing to listen.
