1. I started following DU because I had already changed
I had become thoroughly disillusioned with the MSM and realized that I was being fed a bunch of hooey. A friend told me of this site during last year's campaign. I lurked for months before joining shortly after the election.

2. I still have the same political beliefs
but I've become much more emphatic about them.

3. My politics have remained fairly consistent.
But, DAMN! It was nice to find a group of folks who shared so many of my core values.

4. I have given up on the Dem's as a party.
I have lost all hope at ever making positive change in this country. I now truly feel like a Roman must have when the republic was swept away and a long line of bad government started up.

When you pay attention to what our pols actually do (Rep and Dem) it's hard to have much hope. DU has recently made me want to become less well informed.

5. Yes. Improved.
I'm in the same place, but improved -- thanks to all of the information (mostly unknown to most of America) that I get at DU. Thanks!

7. Welcome to DU!
:patriot:

And here's hoping either yours change for the better or you change ours for the better--otherwise, what's the point? ;)

13. Thanks for the welcome.
As we all know, the Democratic Party is comprised of folks of many opinions, many backgrounds, and many ideas. Some folks are more liberal, others are more centrist. I think we all bring positives to the table, and I'm glad to be small part of a forum where we can all get together.

16. And I assume that by your avatar you'd be one of those centrists.
Better watch out. The DLC is considered one step above (or below, depending on who you ask) the Antichrist here by quite a few :eyes: Of course, we are in a forum where Michael Moore's a centrist, so there's that.

Still, like I said, centrist or liberal, it's great whenever there are more viewpoints. I'm looking forward to reading yours.

10. I have moved further to the left....
I have always been a Democrat but since I starting searching the internet to find the news the MSM won't report on, I find that I am more of a leftist than I had ever thought before.

This actually started before I joined DU, when I was relying on sites such as Buzzflash, which eventually led me to this site.

DU rocks!

11. Yes!
But I think it was more from the talks Sapph and I had on the one subject I was further right than she on.

I used to be a strong supporter of the death penalty, but after Sapph ad I spending quite a bit of time on this one subject I began to seriously think about why I supported it. Doing that truly made me change my views.

14. More happy and more informed
I always knew there were more crooks running in and around the government than one could ever shake a stick at. This place helps EVERYBODY see the problems with their own eyes. This makes me more happy, cynically happy but more happy none the less.....

That terrible feeling, that feeling they are lying but nobody gets it, that don't happen for me anymore and that's good :toast:

17. It can also scare ya to death
I range from being pissed off to being afraid for my kids and grandkids for what we will end up leaving them.
Some days are worse than others...kind of like reading a 1500 page novel with alot of twists and turns. You can't wait to get to finish but dread it's going to be a bad ending.
The positive things that DU has done is influenced my spending habits and consumption habits, and it has also influenced my youngest daughter to major in political science in college.

15. Any conclusion that a change is DUE TO DU would not be supported ...
... by this poll. The poll merely refers to a period of time that varies by indivdual, not to any CAUSE.

I just thought I'd point this out as a critical thinking exercise. Back to your regularly scheduled progrma. :silly:

18. I have not moved right
by any means. I am kinda radical to begin with. I'm calmer, now. I was a little desperate for like-minded company. Sharing the shock and awe of what is happening to this nation has grounded me, somewhat. Other peoples rants let off some of my steam, too. I feel like I have a voice, literally silent though it may be. I feel I can do nothing to change the world by myself. Speaking out in writing, sharing my thoughts, educating myself with the thoughts of others, may eventually evolve into some type of action that promotes change for the better. I feel empowered. Therefore less compressed with rage.

19. I've become less trusting of woo-wooism.
Before my DU addiction, I would believed in even the most bizarre conspiracy theories. I might have even bought that crap about chemtrails.

The good, sane, people of DU have set matters straight for me on many of these subjects.

As far as my political leanings, I have put much less stock in the Green Party, of which I used to be a vociferous backer.

So I guess you could say I've moved a bit to the right.

20. I've stayed the same, but it looks further right to me.
'Round here, I start feeling like a right neocon, what with my disbelief in MIHOP, Gannongate Wrinkles, and my belief that defeating, say, Santorum is more important than defeating, say, Joementum.

21. I've always been a centrist, and DU didn't really change my politics.
9/11 helped solidify my views a bit (certain issues became more important than others) The debate over Iraq woke me up to the reality that DU isn't nearly as moderate as I once thought it was. No big deal though, I don't plan on leaving the ship, and I can still have lively debate on this board.

24. I am less partisan and more liberal..
I called myself a yellow-dog Democrat before joining DU, now I present myself as a liberal independent. Since joining DU, the Democratic Party has abandoned democracy in favor of fascism and blind chauvinism. Republicans demand that we always obey the government's leaders even as Democratic politicians brag they are more obedient than our current masters. :tinfoilhat:

25. I checked "moved farther right".
I don't think I've moved all that much, but I have realized that people can be much more liberal than I thought they could, and that I'm not as liberal as that.

I used to think I was very liberal. Now I'd just say "somewhat liberal". My opinions remain the same, however.

which makes me more critical. Just b/c someone has a D after their name doesn't make them my candidate.
