Media people who say "Democrat" instead of "Democratic" s/be slapped down
It's bad enough when you hear the Repubs say "Democrat" tax plan instead of "Democratic" tax plan but when the media starts saying it - it's going over the top.

Just heard a commentator on C-Span say that. I'm going to fire off an e-mail. viewers@c-span.org

1. TOTALLY AGREED! Heard Randi Rhodes doing that last night....
...and nearly drove off the highway.

It's a Gingrichian bullshit ploy--as well as grammatically incorrect--and irks the daylights out of me.

4. I heard a little pecker GOP consultant on MSNBC just do the same
Shows they are getting desperate. I'll bet you anything there's a memo somewhere, telling everyone how to say it, and to be SURE to say it. It isn't coincidence, it isn't an accident.

They are trying to stir up the old Atwater ghosts (Atwater, who invented "rat fucking"...remember the 'rat' ad?) and cause the old guard to think in terms of the "good old days" when their cause was fresh, new and exciting, and they all had that righteous fire in their bellies.

They seem to forget Atwater repented on his deathbed. Karma, ain't it a bitch!

5. That's Republican BS, trying to hijack the language again...
saying the Democrat Party. The post above mine says Randi Rhodes did it the other day. She needs to me slapped for that. We must avoid falling into their traps.:evilfrown:

6. YES! YES! YES! This drives me absolutely *NUTS*!!!!
In the most recent Zogby poll I took, it asked about party affiliation, the first choice being "Democrat."

I fired back a hot e-mail, ranting about how I am a member of the "DemocratIC" Party, and not the "Democrat" Party.

Please, no one fall for this lousy trick! :grr:

7. I've gotten used to that. It used to bother me, but I have gotten over it.
Dems can't bring it up without looking petty. Let's just be sure to call them right-wing instead of conservative.

Or we cou;d call them capital-R Republicans. They gave up on lower-case r republicanism years ago.

9. Don't get used to it. Tom DeLay doesn't get to define our party.
Fuck him.

8. Democrat is not an adjective.
I correct people who make this mistake frequently.

10. This is one of my peeves, too.
I've written Zogby I don't know how many times about it.

I like to call attention to their basic bad grammar. Democratic is the adjective. Democrat is the noun.

You'd think "journalists" might understand that.

11. Same as "Jewish banker" vs "Jew banker". It's a vicious and
deliberate slur.
