Okay, another bizarro gas station encounter with a right-wing(?) LOON.

Okay, so I'm stopped at a gas station in Daly City, CA ( a formerly working-class 'burb just south of San Francisco. Like the rest of the Bay Area, it's pretty solid blue)

I'm about to pump my gas when a 50-something white guy with a trimmed beard asks me, smiling, "Where'd you get your 'Beneath Contempt' bumper sticker" (It has a picture of Bush looking psychotic on it). So I said: "It's a custom sticker. You can make anything you want, from makestickers.com."

So he goes "well, are you willing to give up your car?" I start to think he's an Earth First! guy or something, but no...


I say "Well, I try to keep my driving to a minimum, I ride a bike and the bus, but I have to pick up my kid at school" (my car gets 35 mpg, BTW.)

Then he says "Well, I think we should nuke Iraq, what do you think?"

Me: "Um, no, I don't think that at all."

Him "Then we don't see eye to eye."

Then he goes back to his 80s model Jeep Cherokee which is PLASTERED with bumper stickers. The only one I got a good look at was "I'm prepared for any crisis, I'm a parent."


Then he yells at me from his car, grinning insanely "We need to get all our troops out of there, nuke the place and take their gas!"

Me: "Okay, you made your point. I agree that we do need to get our troops out of there."


Him: "And now we have that damn governor Schwarzenegger. We need to get rid of all the damn immigrants. They're ruining the whole country. Put up a wall around the state and keep all the immigrants out!"

I look at his car and see that there is a Filipina woman in the passenger seat. Presumably his wife, and presumably an immigrant...

Me: "So you hate the Governor, too?"

Him: "Yeah, bastard's sleeping with a democrat!"


So I go inside and pay for my $2.60/gal. gas, the guy blathering on endlessly as his wife sits in the car with a dazed look that would befit the wife of Col. Fitts in "American Beauty"


The guy seemed to not like Bush, but was spewing crap that was like a foreign language to me. Not the same garbage from the mainstream repukes, so I'm guessing he's a Boortz or Savage listener or something.

I really feel sorry for that guy's wife.

BTW, my wife is an Immigrant, too.
