I would like to know this.
I was brought up as a Reform Jew. We celebrated all of the High Holy Days and went to synagogue every Friday night. When I turned 13, I celebrated my Bat Mitzvah. That summer, my Rabbi asked if I could run the Friday night services. This was a great thrill for me and my family. My Father was so proud of me. He was even willing to send me to "Rabbi" school after my performance.
A few years past and I moved to Florida to live with my Mother. My Mom loved the fact that I was in love with my reigion. She even signed us (my sister & I) up at the local Synagogue. See, my mom was Catholic, but she could see that my sister and I wanted to follow what we had begun years earlier with our father. That year I had my Confirmation. This is a lot different than a Catholic Confirmation (you are a lot older). Because I was the only girl in the Confirmation Class, I was given the priviledge of reciting the 10 Commandments in Hebrew.
Well, this is where I have a problem with those so called "persons of Faith". The 10 commandments clearly state - You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. These people are ruining what the 10 Commandments stands for. The real people of Faith are those that believe and live their life the way God had intended you to live.
We may not all believe in God the same way, but that doesn't make you any different from me or the Jehovah's Witness or the Buddhist or the Muslim or the Baptist. We are all looking for that something that makes our lives better. I have found it and I for one am a person of Faith. I am offended that they are using Faith as a way to create a divide in this country, when it is Faith that can bring us together.
Just a few thoughts tonight . . . Peace to all of you.
