Did Bush ever say "strategery"?
I ask because my husband says it was only ever said on SNL. I, for some reason thought Georgie had actually said the word.

I was more convinced than ever that Georgie said it because as of late, every time I turn on old Rush Limpballs I hear him use the word as if trying to lend legitimacy to the president. Hubby says Rush is saying it to make fun of SNL, but I swear he is saying it in a very serious non-joking tone.

I tried googling this but found SNL links along with lots of blogs. If it is only SNL that ever used it, I think it is very funny that Rush is using a word from a show that made fun of his master.

Can you help me with info, please? Thanks.

8. In context...
Jim Lehrer: Well, that brings us to the close of tonight's debate. Each candidate will now give a brief closing statement.

Al Gore: Jim, may I make two closing statements?

Jim Lehrer: I'm afraid not. In fact, we are almost out of time, so I will instead ask each candidate to sum up, in a single word, the best argument for his candidacy. Governor Bush?

George W. Bush: Strategery.

Jim Lehrer: < stunned > Vice-President Gore.

Al Gore: "Lock-box".

Jim Lehrer: This concludes the first debate. Thank you, and "Live, from New York, it's Saturday Night!"

2. I've only seen it referred to as "Will Farrell's faux-Bushism"
I don't think the Pretzeldent ever actually said it, although he's said much better.

11. You'd think after five years
someone would have pulled him aside and gotten him to learn to pronounce nuclear. I'm amazed everytime I hear it.

16. Repugs have adopted Bush's pronunciation of "nuclear"
It started before the 2000 election. I guess it's the Repug way of providing cover for an asshole.

6. First on SNL
It was on SNL first, but it became a running joke in the white house afterward. Political strategy after that sketch was often jokingly referred to as "strategery," according to several articles from news weeklies.

7. All sphincters in my body tighten and close when I hear Bush speak.
Sound like double plus good Bush speak. Who better would master this than Bush-Rush?

18. Yes in the stomach leading to the large intestine.
It causes a feeling of nausea. When it interacts with another major sphincter it builds up pressure. A whole day listening to Chimpy could cause my considerable gut to explode. I thought about calling 911 the day he did his press conference explaining his man-date. After I calmed down there was considerable flatulence as the pressure was released.

see reference to: pylorus of stomach; pyloric sphincter

10. It was SNL. They were satirizing his poor English by
making up similar words. Strategery kind of stuck out and became used by everyone. If you want to zero in on Bush's use of language, read "The Bush Dyslexicon" by Mark Crispin Miller. It's scary because Mark zero's in on how effectively he uses his poor English skills.
