out for each other and helping one another. Reagan brought in the philosophy about me, me, me, me and if you can't make it on your own then too bad. It really seems like their is a different attitude in the country since then. We use to think a little more like Europe does. It was a nice blend of Capitalism and Socialism where we watched out for our neighbor and everyone pitched in during war time.

Republicans want pure Capitalism unchecked which leads to greed, consolidation of power and eventually Fascism. Reagan got the ball rolling and Bush perfected this insane philosophy. The perfect recking crew.

1. I agree. We are now the country of 'me'. One of the things I tell my

son that I really miss, is the sense of community. I grew up in the 1950's in the middle of Ohio farming country. We knew all of our neighbors. We had monthly community get-togethers: pot-luck dinners, hay rides, parties, etc. When someone was sick, everybody pitched in to get the crops out for the person, as well as contributing a little bit of cash or hot dishes. People participated in things. County fairs, the Grange, community clubs, school events, etc. Now, the GOP and far RW have created a country where only the individual is of value or the nuclear family. They can be set against their neighbors based on religion, skin color, sexual life style, political stance, or whatever. I don't think I've ever heard Bush talk about the country as a whole..the common good!

I've never heard either. Of course not because that means he'd have to look out for us and not his corporate whore friends. Some people are still like that but not many. :( Our neighbors across the street are great. We talk to them a lot and the woman shares flowers with my mom etc. Things have even changed a little bit down here in the south.

They might listen for five minutes and still have the perception that he is like his TV show. I was very skeptical of him at first but the more I listened the more I liked him.
