-The new prime minister, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, is a devout Shiite from the Dawa Party. As John Burns wrote in The Times yesterday, the Dawa Party was "fiercely anti-American during their exile years under Mr. Hussein, and Dawa was implicated by American intelligence in terrorist acts across the Middle East, including a 1983 bombing of the American Embassy in Kuwait."
-The Kurd, Talabani, is a Kurdish warlord and responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of Kurds. (Has anyone even bothered to read the Kurdish human rights records? Torture. Murder. Extrajudicial killings. Car-bombings. Forcible expulsions.)
-Another big winner in the new Iraqi cabinet is Moktada al-Sadr, the rabid fundamentalist Shiite cleric who led two armed uprisings and caused a lot of American and Iraqi troops to die. His political movement got three ministries - health, transportation and civil society. Al-Sadr also remains fiercely anti-American.
-And speaking of swindler, convict, criminal, terrorist (and Iranian spy), we have Ahmed "Thanks, suckers!" Chalabi in charge of the Ministry of Oil (gee what a frigging surprise) and his nephew is the new Finance Minister. How very convenient for his forger and bank embezzler uncle Chalabi.
