WE are only 4 months into a 4-year term
Even though I'm intellectually aware of this, it just emotionally hit me last night. Look what he's done ALREADY! Will my country be in ruins in four years? Both economically and morally? Will I be in a camp? Will my house be gone? Will women have any rights left? Will a pink triangle be tattooed on my forehead? Will I have any SS left? Seriously, it scares the living HELL out of me.

The only "good" thing that's happened during the last four years is that my formerly moderate Conservative mother has become a rabid, raging Democratic Socialist.

3. During Wubya's speech, I sat and calculated: 1,344 days. When
I told hubby...well, I can't repeat his comment but the gloom on his face was indescribable.

4. His best days are behind him -- his "mandate" is done
it is all downhill from here for GWB. . .yes he will do more damage, but he is going to be more and more contained. The dems are fighting, some people are waking up, and eventually even repubs will stand up for what is right.

Social Security plan -- not gonna happen
Bolton -- probably won't happen, and if it does, his nose will be mighty bloody
Nuclear Option -- I seriously doubt it.

12. It's not just Bush. It's the coup-masters backing him and the neocons
First, we need to identify the Election 2000 coup-masters. Then, they need to be exposed and villified.

Bush can do an enormous amount of damage before 2009. Social Security "reform" will likely be be passed by the Repubs, notwithstanding Dem opposition.

The real killer for the middle- and lower-income families is the consumption tax, which will put these families in the 30% tax bracket when the consumption tax is fully implemented. A Bush-appointed commission, co-chaired by former senators John Breaux and Connie Mack, is already working on it.

However, the corporate media is mostly silent about it. They seem to be waiting for Bush to ramrod the Social Security scam through first.

Has anyone found any "news" media fact-checking on Bush's lies in his Press Conference?

5. Don't forget: He's a lame duck
Usually that means he's irrelevant in two years. Since campaigns start much earlier than before he'll be irrelevant by the summer.

6. I hear ya
During the first few weeks after the second stolen election I felt that way but I've resigned myself to it. Not resigned as in I'm not going to fight anymore, but resigned to totally accepting the fact that they want to destroy America and steal everything that isn't nailed down.

We are in the way and we must go. My father, a veteran and one of the most courageous men I've ever known has said on more than one occasion that he's glad he's near the end of his life because living in Bush's version of America is utterly abhorrent to him.

Knowing this is horrible and it wears on me but I pity those who don't see it until it's too late.

8. These bastards are just getting warmed up
Now both you and I know how people from different cultures must feel after being attacked by these republican christians.

Imagine the frustration if this "occupying force" happened to be from a foreign country and spoke a different language as they pillaged our wealth and killed our children in the name of their God.

We have been forced into a war on virtually every meaningful front there is in our country, and these bastards will not stop until they slander and destroy everything that is holy or important to other people.

The problem with this type of "evangelizing" is that it is only compatible with itself. Everything else must die.

10. I would love to know how your Mother changed?
I can't get through to my Bush lover fundie Mother. She will not listen to me and whatever I print out something for her hoping she'd see the truth, but she'd take a look at first one or two sentences, throws in trash can, saying "THAT'S A LIE!!" I want my mother back the way she was :(

Anyway, I was thinking the same as you... 4 more years of Bush's crap!! It's a good thing about this website, thanks to Skinner, where we can give each other support and listen/keep our eyes open. At first I wanted to go and put my head in sand & stay there until Bush left, but then I found this website! What a lifesaver!!

11. Go read this Eleanor Clift piece in Newsweek - it will cheer you up
the article is referenced in this DU thread:

Falling and Faltering
A hundred  days into his second term, President Bush’s agenda is in trouble. And things are not looking much better for Republicans on Capitol Hill.

By Eleanor Clift
Contributing Editor
Newsweek
Updated: 2:26 p.m. ET April 29, 2005

April 28 - His second term is in a sinkhole. The American people give him low marks on everything but the war on terrorism, and that’s because there hasn’t been a second attack on U.S. soil. President George W. Bush is inept on economic policy, out of his depth on the issue of Social Security and rudderless on foreign policy.

13. I get so scared for my grandkids.
I predicted 3 things when Shrub was installed in 2001. Record breaking gas prices (big oil running the country), invading Iraq, he had to show up poppy, and WWIII, because he's an idiot.

This was before I even thought of looking on the web for anything political. I gathered my theories from just listening to the man.
Frankly, I thought I was a little nuts and felt so alone and scared.
Then, I found DU. I'm still scared, but at least I know I'm not nuts.

Thanks DU!!
