Poll question: Is the U.S. losing the war in the 'INFOSPHERE'?
the neoCONs see the INTERNET as the new 'commons' and a critical objective to winning any current and future wars.

how do you feel they are doing in this operational theater thus far?

what adjustments can/will they make in the future?

peace

1. Being here a good part of the time...
... tends to insulate one from what's happening on other such sites, but every time I Google a politically ambiguous phrase, I seem to come across a ton of right-wing sites.

And, if one thinks about it, the pugs start a half-assed site such as GOPUSA, and that's enough to get a so-called reporter into the White House?

That tells me that they're going to use the net for all it's worth now and in the future, and they'll get a lot of unofficial official help doing it. Plus, they have a lot of money to spread around, and that helps in creating and running more web sites. They don't have to shut down the net to control it--they just have to saturate the bandwidth (exactly the same thing the right-wing think tanks and PR groups have been doing for thirty years with other media).

3. true, but...
the massive, rapid and growing global opposition, especially from key allies, the embolden offensive moves from many of those targeted and the continuing deterioration of the situation in iraq seems to me evidence of us losing the hearts and minds in spite of their best and dominate efforts.

quality vs quantity

i truly believe the INTERNET's are greatly responsible for the speed of their unraveling.

shoot germany and france are forming a military alliance before we invaded our first country... i'm sure the PNAC planners didn't see that happening so quickly.

on the surface it may appear that they are winning but when you add up the facts on the ground they seem to be hemorrhaging.

4. Yeah, But The Corporations They're A Tumor Upon Will Remain
We've got to subordinate the corporations to the will of the people.

5. I think it's helped us. More that we've "enlarged the choir we sing to"

rather than having folks who questioned all that's going on...turn to the Right Wing Blogs. I think the information sharing and activism has jump started us "truthseekers" who were frustrated by Clinton witch hunt and 2000 selection.

BUT...what I see in my State Democratic Party says we are way behind the Repugs in communication with our own folks who have been left out there wondering why we've lost three elections with only CNN/FOX/MSNBC to turn to.

I think those who came to the internet were really seeking in desperation but had the skills to find places they could get the info they were looking for. I worry that the Dems who aren't so communicative or internet savvy because of lack of time or skills are out in a wilderness still trying to get info from a MSM that isn't going to give them info. Those are the folks I worry about.

But for us activists the Intenet has been great. I think, that's going to start to be restricted though...as we've begun to see here and there.
:eyes: if you get what I mean.....

6. As for an alliance between France and Germany...
... I don't think the neo-cons care. Remember "Old Europe?"

I see opposition most everywhere in the world, too, except where it counts with regard to US actions--in the US. Even if there's a sudden groundswell of opinion against the neo-cons that even the media can't ignore, it won't change these guys' minds one bit. They stick to their agenda, and use the media to reinforce their opinions--I see them doing the same thing with the internet, or, at the very least, trying.

Cheers.

8. they care...
they don't want more competitors they want less and they want to PREVENT new ones from arising.

there were many people in the streets protesting even before the war started and there are more Dem's willing to just say no to these goons.

i understand that the neoCONs are going to do their thing but they have made doing their thing much more difficult and i think they have only accelerated the demise of America as a super power.

isn't it ironic...
