What should the future Iraq War Memorial look like?
I was thinking that the statue of sadaam that they staged the tearing down of might be good...maybe they could make it fall down at 5 minutes past the hour, every hour...ya kno'- for the touristas.
and instead of an eternal flame, how about making an eternal gusher of oil be a part of the monument- well maybe an eternal trickle...and it could trickle across the names of all the war dead- carved in granite...
anyone else got any ideas?

16. War Memorials tend to honor the warrior more than the war
And if you've ever been to that beautiful, eloquent, haunting, magnificent black scar into the heart of the National Mall, you know exactly what I mean.

I defy anyone with a soul to go there and not be moved to tears. I am 58 years old and I have never been able to do it ...... and I've been there dozens of times. I am feeling weepy as even as I type this. (Yeah ... I'm an old sap ... get over it.)

I want a memorial to this war that looks like this:

which is nothing ..... absolutely nothing.

A memorial to the warriors? As in the past ..... let them choose it and let our country give them the place to put it.

all of them my brothers and sisters.

And make no mistake ... there were sisters there, too.

God Bless Them.
