If you want to sob over a hunk of stone, you deserve whatever grief it caused you.

Kudos to the Taliban for destroying the big lie!

NOTE: This post is sarcastic.

2. I caught the end of a PBS special
and an archaelogist is close to finding a huge lying down (prone) Buddha near where the the other Buddha statues were destroyed. The team thinks they discovered the foot but had to re-bury it until next year. It was older than the destroyed Buddhas. :bounce:

The same special also showed recovered gold artifacts that many thought were lost. So there is still some good news.

No heroes.

Got the sarcasm. :)

I always thought they should have been stopped somehow right then; don't ask me how.

21. HAHAHAHAHHAHHA I have a THREE-FER!!!
Amazing what a few hits of nicotine straight to the lungs does for one's brain power.

Kudos to bush for solving the food shortage problem in Iraq by doubling the child malnutrition rate so Iraqi farmers will have to hugely increase their purchases of GM crops from the US as dictated by bushco's "100 Rules" law in order to feed all those sickly children who will need tons of US medicines to combat all the illnesses they'll be susceptable to from being so malnourished.

So take THAT!

The only trump card I had was that at least the Iraqis can look forward to getting all those menial jobs (like cleaning toilets, doing laundry, cooking and cleaning etc.) for slave wages at our 14 brand spanking new military bases.
And just think of all the mcDonalds restaurants they'll have!

Kudos to bushco for solving the problems of ethnic tensions in the MidEast AND of Americans having to pay higher state taxes because of US states not getting any funding from NCLB because their schools fail the requirements because schoolchildren are Left Behind due to failing their geography classes by not having a clue where the hell the US states of Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran are on the map, by his invading Afghanistan and Iraq and soon Iran so he can combine all 3 into a single country too big to miss on any map, called Iraniraqistan, and full of Iraniraqistanians.

BWAHAHAHHAHAHA.

Wow, if we expanded to include ALL of the wonderful things they've done in the rest of the world, we could go on for days...

But then I'd have to throw myself off a cliff; and of course I can't do that because they've leveled all of them with their environmentally friendly mountain-top mining operations.

Drat!

It's a shame I can't continue with this charming thread, and the op got us off to such a POSITIVE start.

15. I sure hope you're Joking, because I don't find this funny at all...
...if you're not.

This is very similar to Islamists bombing and destroying a major Catholic Cathedral or "The Cristal Cathedral, if destroying a 800 year old Cathedral doesn't bother you.

But an even closer (but non-religious) comparison would be, if someone where to come down here to Georgia and blow the Civil War carving off the side of Stone Mountain.

Or if that still wouldn't bother you, how about if the U.S. Government suddenly decided that the desecration of the "Black Hills", which our Indigenous People, (Indians, if you don't get who I'm talking about) Hills they hold sacred, needed to correct that injustice, by blowing the heads of the 4 U.S. Presidents off the face of Mount Rushmore. That would make a few people happy, but I bet it would piss-off a LOT more people.:grr:

A stain? It's a stain. Rightys in the States these days seem to be thriving to find something to boost Gawd to the top. The Buddhas that were destroyed signified the religion's (Buddhism) strength and overall pacifist stance. What can I say, bad Karma came to the taliban :O.

27. Sarcastic or not
Everyone loves Buddhists. Why is that? Institutionalized Buddhism can be just as bad as any other religion. I'd be willing to bet money that an independent Tibetan theocracy would do things to its people every bit as bad as what the Taliban did in Afghanistan. Or what the Chinese are doing in Tibet now, for that matter.

The point is that governments are evil and even more so when they involve God or some idea thereof.

Then again, what do I know? I could no more believe in a deity than I could get off the ground by flapping my arms.
