March for the uninsured
Edited on Mon May-09-05 08:45 PM by Horse with no Name
American Red Cross www.redcross.org (202) 303-4498
Salvation Army www.salvationarmyusa.org 1-800-SAL-ARMY
American Lung Association www.lungaction.org 212-315-8700
American Cancer Society www.cancer.org 1-800-ACS-2345
American Diabetes Organization www.diabetes.org 1-800-342-2383
American Kidney Foundation www.kidney.org (800) 622-9010 (212) 889-2210
American Heart Association www.americanheart.org 1-800-242-8721
Simple Care www.simplecare.com (425) 255-4166
Arthritis Foundation www.arthritis.org 404-965-7635
Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org 312.335.8700
The Brain Trauma Foundation www.braintrauma.org 212 772-0608

I would suggest that all these organizations be contacted as they all have chronic patients and there is always a problem with insurance.
I would also suggest that every state have a coordinator and that coordinator appoint someone to research their state’s trauma centers to see if they would be willing to come on board since most of those hospitals are under funded.

If anyone can think of any other organizations, please let me know and I will take care of contacting them.

Thanks.

2. Great. Thank you.
Will add those as well, although the homeless will most likely have to be done on a state by state basis.

3. Fabulous! Can you explain a bit more about the "March"
Is there some March you are trying to organize or are these organizations doing that? And when, where...

FANTASTIC pro active ideas here. I salute you and support your efforts. I would like to march for this myself. I wonder if the disabilities organizations would be interested?

Great headsup, Horse :applause:

8. Thanks Kat and Horse... I just read another thread talking about
Bouncy Ball and DC et al.

Sounds exceptionally exciting!!

Is there any chance that this/these marches can or will be spread out across the country so we west coasters can participate???

I just LOVE IT when these marches come together. The theme of this particular one is long over due.

Yahooooooooo, I'm so thrilled. :bounce:

9. there's lots of discussion about having concurrent state
marches and awareness building activites. I think the state activities will draw more people in to the cause.

10. That sounds great...
Perhaps rally around the State Capitols? I could drive that far for sure. *rubbing hands together* :)

As the date, the details, and the time ticks down, will we have anyone source to coordinate with..for more details etc.?

4. Are you referring to Bouncy Ball's march on Sept. 17th?
Or, are you organizing your own?
