Change in tone from ABC's Nightline?
I watched Ted Koeppel's nightline for years and I used to trust Peter Jennings for World/National news. After 9/11 I felt that they went so far to the right I could hardly recognize them. But I still get the email summaries for years, and today I got this one:

The death toll rises. The number of available suicide bombers rises. And Iraqis are dying by the hundreds. The war in Iraq has changed. U.S. forces are less often the targets and innocent civilians are in the sights now. Why? Who are these suicide bombers? Where are they from and what is motivating them to take their own lives for their cause? We'll try to figure it out. Tonight, The Human Bombs: The artillery of the 21st century.

Is there a ray of hope for ABC news covering the real stories?

2. I rarely watch Nightline any more
but the other night there was a post here that Koppel did a little expose on NCLB and how they fudged the numbers in Texas to make it look like they were doing better when actually things there were very bad. In other words they lied. I hope they are waking.

5. I think Koppel is a real journalist and highly intelligent
I was at a "town meeting" on the subject of health care which was on Nightline about 15 years ago. He was in total control of the audience of 1000 (including local VIPs), being on live TV with commercial breaks, and had a commanding knowledge of the subject matter.

He did a show showing all of the Americans who died in Iraq- maybe when it was around 800. No commentary, just read the names and showed their pictures. There was tremendous criticism of this as being anti-Bush.

Charlie Gibson is Mr. Vanilla Ice Cream.

Peter Jennings I used to respect, but I think he's sold his soul.

3. More right wing bullshit.
They claim the bombers are targeting civilians WHICH IS A FLAT OUT LIE. 90+ Percent of the casualties are people collaborating with the Americans, puppet regime, or the like. Most civilian deaths occur around police stations and army recruitment centers--places where collaborators or would be collaborators are found. There are some civilian deaths related to religious differences, but those are only a small percentage.

So, no there is no hope ABC will cover REAL stories.

9. Plus US Casualties are going way up too.
They just want to make it sound like a civil war. Lying Bastards.

6. ABC was bad before Jennings left
Now its much worse. They must be competing with Fox.

That Terry Moran (Internet spelling for moron) who covers the White House is the worst of all of them. He's a total mouthpiece for the Bush cabal. I've switched to NBC, which is a little better.

him. But I can hardly believe what comes out of his mouth these days. It makes me glad I didn't go into journalism! Who knew that the higher you climb, the more you are forced to sell out.

Edit: I heard that the least well informed viewers are in this order FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC

8. I would've thought that CBS viewers
would rank above NBC or ABC but I guess since Dan Rather left they have slipped too. x( I know that CBS News wasted all of last week on some stupid series called Beautiful America. It was all about how Americans beautify themselves and their pets with cosmetic surgery and shit like that. :puke:
