No matter what you think of him, he did save the dollar by enacting the (until then) largest tax increase in US history, thereby sacrificing his second term in favor of principal and the good of the republic. 17. Carter was one of the

best presidents of the twentieth century. Eventually that will be recognized.

I also respect him enormously for the good he's done since leaving office. He's one of the few self-professed Christians I know of who truly lives his faith.
