I see now why GWB only consults his "heavenly Father"

His biological father's opinion on an Iraqi war:

Trying to eliminate Saddam, extending the ground war into an occupation of Iraq, would have violated our guideline about not changing objectives in midstream, engaging in "mission creep," and would have incurred incalculable human and political costs. Apprehending him was probably impossible. We had been unable to find Noriega in Panama, which we knew intimately. We would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq. The coalition would instantly have collapsed, the Arabs deserting it in anger and other allies pulling out as well. Under the circumstances, there was no viable "exit strategy" we could see, violating another of our principles. Furthermore, we had been self-consciously trying to set a pattern for handling aggression in the post-Cold War world. Going in and occupying Iraq, thus unilaterally exceeding the United Nations' mandate, would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression that we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land. It would have been a dramatically different - and perhaps barren - outcome.

1. At least Poppy had some sense. Until he allowed Saddam to use
guns in helicopters, which then allowed him to kill more of his own people which Junior* then said was a reason why we had to stop hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim. :eyes:

We made our own enemy.

But Poppy was right, and his widdle boy with an incontinence problem rather proved him right. Except we got Saddam, which was Junior's* goal all along and nothing more. But it really wasn't worth it.

4. And these from Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney in 1992

"I would guess if we had gone in there, I would still have forces in Baghdad today. We'd be running the country. We would not have been able to get everybody out and bring everybody home.

"And the final point that I think needs to be made is this question of casualties. I don't think you could have done all of that without significant additional U.S. casualties. And while everybody was tremendously impressed with the low cost of the (1991) conflict, for the 146 Americans who were killed in action and for their families, it wasn't a cheap war.

"And the question in my mind is how many additional American casualties is Saddam (Hussein) worth? And the answer is not that damned many. So, I think we got it right, both when we decided to expel him from Kuwait, but also when the president made the decision that we'd achieved our objectives and we were not going to go get bogged down in the problems of trying to take over and govern Iraq."

5. His heavenly father knew there were no WMD. Therefore, He did not tell
George to invade Iraq.

If he is going to consult his heavenly father, then he needs to LISTEN to Him.

George is inadvertently saying that his heavenly father goofed. I think not!!
