How Immature are we?
Edited on Sun May-15-05 05:42 PM by Democracy White
I had bought another "Jesus is a Liberal" bumpersticker last week and, using magnets, posted it on my car. Today I went to the bookstore to meet with some friends and noticed that it was gone.

Ok, so before I left my house I had known that it was there and then I went to the gas station, filled my car and went down the expressway to the bookstore. When I got out, I noticed that the thing was gone. Again I thought it was because of driving down the expressway but then the other two that I have would have came off too.

So now, I am mad, cause I have a feeling it was stolen, again.
The first time it had happened was in Hudsonville. Before leaving my mom's house I had seen that it was gone and I thought it had fallen off on the highway but then I thought about and when I was at Subway getting a sub, somebody had probably stolen it then. And most likely since Hudsonville is a very Republican, Christian town.

You maybe wondering why I am griping about this here on DU but I gotta say something. It is really immature that people would do something like this. Doesn't the Ten Commandments tell us that 'Thou Shalt Not Steal?' After all, the sticker was on my car which is my property. It is really sad that we have come to a time and age where one no longer respects one's property and most importantly one's freedom of expression however shape or form it takes.
If someone is offended by my stickers, then they shouldn't look, simple as that. I really want to yank off those damn yellow ribbons and flag magnets off others' cars but I don't. Why? Because it is their right to have them. In a country where freedom of expression is supposed to be upheld, we have a right to be offended and not to be offended. We have a right to say and do things that may be offensive to some and delightful to others within the context of the law of course.
Nevertheless, I paid for the bumper sticker, not them. If you don't like the message, tough luck!

On the bright side, I was talking to a person who worked a grocery store that I frequent and told her about the situation and she brought up another possibility, that someone may have liked it and took it off. That still doesn't really allieviate my anger. We commented on the ribbon magnet thingies and she even admitted that they were too much.

Well, I guess I'll just buy another one, it's not really a big boo hoo. I'm just sick of the immaturity that is happening in this nation, and in the world.

God! Take me off this insane asylum of a planet!

Dee

3. This is why my bumper sticker is
taped on inside my back window. Tough if they don't like it. Having said that, I'm hoping no one smashes my window in!

6. I don't buy the story from the
girl at the store. I think someone stole it more then likely. These people are fucking immature and don't know anything. It makes me so mad. It made me mad when people stole Kerry signs down. Even though I can't stand to see those ribbons or W stickers or anything republican I'd never steal it because it's not mine to steal. These people need to grow up and realize they don't claim Jesus and he is open for everybody. Sometimes I hear what you're saying and wish God would either take me or move me. AHH!

7. Nominated. Excellent points!
I had two Kerry stickers torn off of my back window last year. It goes to show that some people can't handle differing viewpoints. This is why it bothers me when people on EITHER side talk about ripping off someone else's stickers. Everybody has a right to express their opinions, even those we disagree with.

9. Be thankful someone else wants it
It means your sticker is cool. Buy a pack of them, and thank jesus
whenever someone takes one. Imitation is a sign of great admiration,
as soon enough another car will carry that same cool message.

Jesus took "his" sticker/magnet. Do not question his ways. Trust
that they are mysterious and get another. This will shift the karma
and people won't be as inclined to steal them.

10. Use some superglue.
But, hey, maybe Jesus likes it and keeps commandeering it to show around heaven. ;-)
