We really heart Kraft for doing the right thing
from http://americablog.org:

We really REALLY Kraft!
by John in DC - 5/26/2005 10:52:00 AM

UPDATE: Call Kraft and thank them for doing the right thing: 1-800-323-0768

Ok, everyone, go out and buy some Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, NOW.

The religious right hate groups of America's Taliban have been threatening Kraft for including gays in its pro-diversity outreach. Kraft just told them to fuck off. Well, okay, Kraft wrote a beautiful message about diversity and how a company's true measure is how it responds to criticism of its principles. Amazing letter. And an amazing stand from Kraft. God bless 'em.

Read Kraft's letter, via Kos. An excerpt:

"The true test of any commitment is how you respond when challenged. Kraft is experiencing this to a degree right now, as a result of our decision to be one of several contributors to the 2006 Gay Games in Chicago. The games will bring together thousands of athletes in a competition that will take place in our corporate hometown....

"It can be difficult when we are criticized. It's easy to say you support a concept or a principle when nobody objects. The real test of commitment is how one reacts when there are those who disagree. I hope you share my view that our company has taken the right stand on diversity, including its contribution to the 2006 Gay Games in Chicago."

12. Their decision was about marketing
They surely determined there are a lot more gay rights supporters who buy their products than fundies who do.

I will now go stuff myself on Kraft Mac and Cheese in their honor. Well, seriously, don't they make something a little more gourmet I could stuff myself on? :P

6. I made my own all natural ingredient macaroni & cheese casserole

last nite too.

(don't trust processed food - try not to use it - not always successful)

Kraft's stand on gays is great but something keeps nagging my memory about Kraft?

4. So, Kraft and Disney are enlightened corporations in this regard
Although thanks to Michigan voters, they can no longer pay benefits (even by their own choice) to gay partners in the state.

Whatever your opinion is on mandating companies to provide that kind of coverage, they should not be forbidden by law from doing so voluntarily.

11. actually the way it works is
the insurance companies are not required by law to offer partner benefits, so a company cannot require that the insurer offers partner benefits even if it's the company's policy.

Kraft, the company, can certainly pay benefits if it's out of their own treasury.

5. My kids were such yellow dye addicts.
Kraft mac-n-cheese is the quintessential kid food and was a staple in my house for years. It will be again.

Comfort food with great values both economically and morally. What could be better?

23. Isn't Phillip Morris the company that runs anti-smoking ads?
The last ad I saw from them was entirely about not smoking and how to quit. It came off like a PSA.

Good guys, or good marketers? After all, they're still selling the stuff.

to spend money on those anti-smoking ads as part of the "big-tobacco" settlement.

31. Good marketers.
They developed that quality after they lost their ass in the Florida lawsuit. Not that they weren't good marketers before, just that they started targeting Asian teens instead of American ones.

21. Not actually stupid when you think about it
Mixing symbols with language, then reintegrating them to change the structure of language can be useful in making communication more flexible. That can pave the way for newer and more original concepts and ideas...

16. it's the same line of thinking
that people use when they turns nouns like "office" into verbs.

IF it was in keeping with the marketing tool (which has no place in english grammar or usage) used in that atrocious movie i won't even mention (but someone else did below) it would be appropriate to offset the word with quotes: "heart."

22. Because that's how John Aravosis expressed it in his title, but
he had the word heart in Parenthesis, and when I copied the title from his site, that word didn't copy (or paste). Heart = Love.
