why is it that when someone says, "with all due respect to you..."
they then go on ahead to insult your sensitivities (or is it sensibilities?). The co-host of LA HORA DE LA VERDAD (The Hour of Truth), Ricardo Brown, did just that last night to one of his guests, a cuban-american (?) woman, who had converted to the muslim faith, who was highly educated, never insulting and always pleasant ... on one of the exchanges between them, Ricardo Brown was going on, and on about "the ragheads" (my euphemism--not his, but you get the point: he was being vitriolic about muslims), and she said, "well, you know, i lived in north carolina for several years, the heart of the Baptist Bible Belt, and there, if you are not a Baptist, it doesn't matter if your are Catholic, or any other religion, you are hated for just not being a Baptist ...", to which Ricardo Brown said, "yes,BUT WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO YOU, no Baptist has ever gotten on a plane and flown it into a tower...", to which the woman said, "you are right".

So, in one sweep Brown denied the reality of what the woman was saying. And, in one sweep Muslims were made out to be worse haters than any other kinds of haters in this world. {It never faced him that GWB is raining bombs and bullets in Iraq and that those bombs and bullets are creating a lot of animosity against the U.S. in the Muslim world, and that that animosity is being created by the one GWB whose line Brown toes night after night, after night in his HOUR OF TRUTH program. In one sweep, Brown who could have said something like ..."what is it that I, or anyone of us, can do, you think, to start changing all this hate into something positive for each of us and for the world to live in peace" ... went on to spew more hate and more division.

So much for WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO YOU.

1. Because the person making that statement
doesn't think any respect is due towards you.

8. Amen and welcome to DU..Some people apparently have forgotten
that 'respect' is no more a gift than it is due them..It's sad too many are self-centered here but 'sad' doesn't change reality..

7. It's the same with "Not to be an ass, but..." or "not to be a prude...."
It's a social convention to soften the bluntness or directness of what's to come, often in DIRECT contradiction of the statement to follow...."

"Not to be nosey, but are you really going out with him this weekend?"
