21. Same here
Frances didn't come within 100miles of here, but still managed to knock down a 30 ft pine tree which took down the pole on its way down.

5. I did the same thing!
I looked at my flag and I remembered my promise to myself! I will not fly the American Flag, that so many have fought and died defending, in this banana republic! The United States of America ended in 2000, when the veteran's votes went in the trashcans in Florida!

8. No!
i have a flag...but i would not fly in now..and have not since bushco was selected...but, also...i am not proud of my country right now and i am not proud of what my country and my flag stand for right now. I can honor the dead..all those who have died in wars and all those humans who have lived and gone before me..without flying a symbol that no longer stands for what i believe. Better that i honor them with my prayers and my thoughts and my hope that their lives were good ones while they were here.

11. Displaying my American peace flag...
... in which a peace sign of stars replaces the usual rows of stars.

It's been on display every day and will remain. A prayer of hope.

12. I am ashamed to admit this
but I bought a flag wednesday, at the dreaded wal mart. 14.95 . Its outside flying in the rain right now. The only reason I bought it was because it was made in the USA. It had the wooden pole and the mount and everything. Nice flag.

17. I put mine in the foyer of the store this year
Last year we had one stolen and then the flagpole bent down to the ground. We used to fly it all the time. It sat right under a light. But some of the people in this town don't think it's 'merican to sell adult movies and toys, so they steal my flag. There was even a LTTE about my use of the flag in advertisements and at my store.

So I have the flag up on the wall of the foyer and a Gadsden flag (don't tread on me) right under it.

That wall looks out of place with the silk flowers, small fountain, classical art, and lingerie displays in the rest of the foyer - but I think it's cool.

We have hanging windsocks throughout the store, some with flags, some with the statue of liberty and some with RWB stars.

These decorations will stay up for flag day and 4th of July, then mid July, I'm thinking a tropical theme with the blow up palm tree.

19. You sound like me.
Only I have wind chimes all over my front porch. When the wind blows it sounds like Chime Hell out there :)

I live far away from the neighbors as not to bother them with my obsession for everything wind chime.

22. I don't have a flag...
If I did, I'm not sure I would display it. The American flag doesn't symbolize to me what it used to, and I don't want to be associated with those assholes who fly two of them from their SUVs. The far right has usurped the American flag just like they've usurped Christianity. I don't want to be associated with either right now.

23. We have three flags
One was my father's and one my father-in-law's. Both served in WWII. The other is from my uncle who was killed in Vietnam. All three of those flags draped the coffins of our loved ones and flying them today seems a little like desecration to us. The only way I could fly them with any sort of real conviction today would be if we flew them upside down. As for you flag-flying patriots, I'm glad you have the urge to fly yours and that's cool. Just can't do it here. Not now. I pray the day will come soon when we feel proud to fly them again.

24. I won't be flying a flag!
Just seeing an American flag makes me nauseous. I have never liked the flying of flags. Too me it seems so nationalistic and fascist.
The only flag I would ever fly is one that said Peace on it with a giant planet Earth on it. I know my comments are harsh and you can tell me if I don't like this country I can 1. Try to make it better or 2. Get the fuck out. I wish I could just easily pick up and live anywhere. There should be no borders. We are all slaves......
I am hiding this whole weekend and reading Carl Sagan's "Demon-Haunted World."

28. I have one, but do not wish to display it.
Not to mean any disrespect, but I will not be putting it outside due to the fact I think it has almost lost it's meaning to me, due to all the 'super-patriotic bushistas'.

I do not support base closings

I do not support not going to returing troops funerals

I do not support wars for oil/natural gas

I do not support an administration that chooses $$$$ over the troops' needs

I will, however, remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. To me they are not forgotten.
