The thing that made you angriest about the Bush Cheney campaign
For me it was the Swift Boat Liars trashing John Kerry's military service, especially when Bush and Cheney were too cowardly to face combat. They don't deserve to be in the same room with men like him.

Edited on Sat May-28-05 06:57 PM by Strawman
That's what's behind all the manipulation and lies and mean spiritedness: this general feeling that they have some kind of divine right to wield absolute power. They purposely turn the practice of democracy into a farce.

23. The thing that finally got me to call the White House
Yes, I was infuriated by the lies, the pandering, the exruciatingly bad policy, all of the above.

What got me on a really personal level was the way they talked about us, the citizens who disagreed with them. I was living outside Boston at the time.

They mocked us. Those filthy slugs made fun of me, my neighbors, and the state in which I was born, in front of cheering crowds of "real" americans all over the country. Bush making smarmy remarks about Boston and Cheney proclaiming that "they don't share our values." After the RNC, Cheney arriving out west and saying that it was good to be back in "God's country" (that prompted the angry phone call) and the good people of (insert state here) lapping it up.

After the "election" I wanted my fellow Massholes to all get out their shovels and dig a trench around the state, but I never got any real momentum behind that idea.

25. How all of Bush's minions went on tv and kept repeating....
Already proven wrong Rovian talking points, and they were allowed to get away with it.

Of course, most of America did not see the Not So Swift Boat Liar Leader on Ted Koppell whining because he was proven to be a LIAR, since the MSM did not constantly repeat that over and over again (unlike the constantly repeated Not So Swift Boat Lies).

28. The thing I still bothers me
was seeing Bush on election day, when everything was looking so good for Kerry, and then all of the sudden Bush asked the press to come up to the White House residence and they didn't know why. There he was with the whole Bush family and Bush was smiling and said he thought they were going to win. That was it, just invited the press up to say that. I thought it so odd at the time. and the press people started at that point saying "the Bush camp now says the exit polls are wrong". I found the whole scene so fucking odd and I just knew something was up at that point.

30. Nothing about their campaign angered me. What *did* anger me was
Edited on Sat May-28-05 07:40 PM by Stirk
the way our corporate media anxiously barked out the Bush campaign's talking points, and helped them to define the debate.

Remember that announcement by one of the big corporate news outlets that they weren't covering Iraq much because, "it could influence the outcome of the election"?

Nothing the Bush campaign did angered me, because nothing the Bush Administration could do would surprise me. I trust the mafia more than I trust the Bush Administration.

33. Smear Boat Liars. The Admiral's Business received an 8-figure contract.
SWIFT BOAT VET GOT $40M CONTRACT FROM BUSH

The Bush White House has denied any connection to the Swift Boat Veterans
for Truth<1> - the group that has been airing factually unsupportable smear
ads against Sen. John Kerry's war record. But a new report today shows that
one of the key accusers in the smear ads was a lobbyist for a company that
recently received a massive federal contract from the Bush administration.

As the Washington Post reports, Rear Admiral William L. Schachte Jr., the
man who claims Kerry was not under fire when he received his first Purple
Heart, is a top lobbyist for a defense contractor that recently won a $40
million grant from the Bush administration. According to a March 18 legal
filing by Schachte's firm, Blank Rome, Schachte was one of the lobbyists
working for FastShip's effort to secure federal contracts.<2> On Feb. 2,
FastShip announced the Bush administration had awarded it $40 million.<3>

The phony outrage by the Cheneys, who assiduously kept their gay daughter out of the spotlight throughout the campaign was simply absurd.
