How Will Republicans Spin The Downing Street Minutes?
Edited on Sat Jun-04-05 04:21 AM by Quixote1818
How will Bush spin this sentence:

"But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

My concern is this sentence that comes later on:

"For instance, what were the consequences, if Saddam used WMD on day one, or if Baghdad did not collapse and urban warfighting began? You said that Saddam could also use his WMD on Kuwait. Or on Israel, added the Defence Secretary."

I will tell you right now that this will be one of the main line of attacks from Right Wing Radio and Rove. They will try to confuse people and get them to focus on the later sentence while perhaps never mentioning the first sentence which is the one that shows illegal policies were being used to "Fix" intelligence. If they say it enough times people will start to believe the "Memo" backs up Bush's policies. It will be important for Democrats to have their talking points ready and to repeat them over and over and over like Rove has his lynch men do. It's time to play Hardball and yell louder than the Right. The facts our on our side, lets not let them manipulate the truth with the politics of confusing the idiot masses.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? What angels will they use to come after the memo?

1. Just claim it is a fake.
They'll find one guy who is remotely attached to the memo and then find some flaw in his past. Then they will hammer than flaw over and over until the focus shifts to the person instead of what the memo says. I guarantee it.

5. Has there been any real exposure of it in the MSM yet?
Nope. It will start out with one of the talking heads asking "Do we even know this thing is real? I mean British intel was off on the yellow cake, how can we know this is real?" Then the seed of doubt is planted.

Right now even repuke think tank in D.C. is working on some way to spin this thing, and with the whore media's help * will come up smelling like roses.

3. Absolutely, be worried.
As we have seen countless times these bastards have a knack for spin that is unrivaled in modern times. They, no doubt, have already parsed every sentence and written new definitions for the word "is" to begin repeating and repeating to "catapult the propaganda".

6. They will say there is no
direct quotes from Blair or Bush in the minutes. It was all fixed after the fact.

7. Do they need to actually do or say or spin anything?
Their brain dead minions will simply refuse to believe anything negative about their brain dead messiah is true. At this point those in power on the right don't have to actually do or spin anything. It's a given how the pack of rats will react.

8. I think they will just shrug it off.
No big deal spin or cover story. A curt denial and a change of subject.

We need to think in terms of re-taking the House and Senate in 2006. Without that, none of this matters.

9. McCain already started the talking points...
he "disagrees" with the memo.

they spin what they want by the media giving opinion and evidence equal weight.
