I was sitting in a Doctor's waiting room.
In the lobby, the TV was turned to Colin Powell giving his speech at the UN.
I have to say--it was persuasive. But as I sat there I just kept thinking of that particular day and how it changed my life, some in readily evident ways, some in not so readily evident ways.
I suppose it was foretelling that a group of people kept griping about the TV being on that channel, but the only thing I could think was that the FUTURE of our country rested on what happened right here, right now.
I wondered why people would rather watch Maury--but then, I really suppose that is what is going on in our country now.
As creatures of comfort, many do not want to subject themselves to what they feel is uncomfortable.
I also wonder--in that waiting room of about 30 people--how many of them now wish they had watched that UN speech?
How many of them have lost loved ones?
Yet they chose to watch Maury.
You wonder how I remember this day so well. That was the day that my granddaughter was born--and also the day our great country died.
