Depends on your definition of "fixed" - Freepbags pulling a Clinton
So, I put on my hip-waders and sludged through the sewage over at FR.

They have come up with a few bizarre and flimsy excuses for the Downing Street Minutes. But the most entertaining, is that we're misunderstanding the Brits definition of 'fixed'.

OY.

p.s. they seem to think that Conyers' hearing will be on Friday!

They've skipped the entire "This document doesnt exist, isnt authentic" stage.

I'm happy they are doing this.

Or one of these?

5. Make The Comparison To Deride Them
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 01:27 PM by ThomWV
Look, if one of them starts makeing the case for the "Fix The Intelligence" meaning something else just laugh at them and say, "yep, and the last time I heard this it was 'I did not have "SEX" with that ...." Then laugh and say something like, its the last excuse of every liar to confuse the words.

Clinton lied about the meaning of having sex and Bush is lieing about the meaning of fixing intelligence and each of them lied to cover his own ass. Don't deny Clinton's lie and don't accept the excuse for Bush's.

8. "fix the intelligence" means "cuts the nuts off the intelligence"?
Maybe that IS the correct definition, then.

20. Isn't that what Cheney and Libby were doing going to Langley so often?
Cutting the nuts off of any intelligence analyst who didn't write what they wanted to read?

If they want to make that comparison - great.

Seems to me that bringing honor back to the WH after a sex scandal pales in comparison to having the blood of hundreds of American soldiers on your hands.

6. Last time I checked........
....."Fixed" meant the same thing in Britain that it means here in the US. I doubt too many Freepers have ever bothered to leave the Good Old US of A....... so how the hell would they know any Britspeak to begin with? :eyes:

18. Harry Potter!
LOL err. Ok ok so they don't read very well, and not likley to read "witchcraft" books.

Most freepers are blinkered anyway.

Everyone here understood that fix.. was to fix the evidence in support of... ex. Bolton's swagger in the white house over not getting the Intell he wanted or the fix he needed.

All the better to throw the proverbial enablers into a tizzy of their own making, and away from the real issue at hand.

Now, would there?

How dumb do they think we are? As dumb as they are, I guess.

PILES of other evidence that is lying out there stating the obvious. Bush was going to war come hell or high water, and was going to use whatever excuse, reason, scare tactic, that would work to sucker in the country. Hell, even Woodward's damn book said as much, in plain English, over a year ago. I can't believe this is even being seriously questioned. I swear, this country, thanks to the laziest piece of shit dick sucking sycophantic lap dog scum excuse for a media, can't even remember what happened last week. some times I think my head will just explode....

19. I don't care what they mean by "fixed"
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 03:27 PM by Jack Rabbit
Either way it is read, the Downing Street document shows unequivocally that the decision to invade Iraq was made independent of facts to justify the action; the justification followed the decision. That is why the justification, such as it was, was a pack of lies that, in the end, was exposed as such even before the first missiles were fired.

The very most credit one can give the regime is that they assumed that they would find a biochemical arsenal without really knowing how big it was (how many tons of chemical weapons agent, General Powell?), even exactly what it was (Yellow cake uranium, Mr. Bush? Reconstituted nuclear program, Mr. Cheney? Mushroom cloud, Dr. Rice?) or where it was located (the neighborhood of Baghdad and Tikrit, Mr. Rumsfeld?) Obviously, the details they provided were either based on flimsy evidence that was easily discredited, such as the Niger document, or just fabricated. The joke was on them when it turned out that they were going to war to disarm a nation that had been disarmed for about twelve years. Except the dead and their next of kin don't think the joke is very funny.

Even this is giving them too much credit. One does not need to create something like the Office of Special Plans if one has any confidence in the facts to support the case one is making. The decision was made first and the facts had to be cut to fit and hammered to size.

In short, the Bushies knew damn good and well that the "case was thin" (that's also right out of the Downing Street document) and that they had few, if any, solid facts to support the decision they had made. There is no reason to even suppose that the invasion of Iraq had anything to do with fighting terrorists or had anything remotely to do with national security. It was colonial piracy, nothing else. Helping the Iraqi people? Don't kid yourself. Bush, Cheney and their corporate cronies who were awarded reconstruction contracts even before the invasion without competitive bidding were helping themselves to Iraq's natural resources and national assets.

It was an unjustified war of aggression. That is a war crime on its face and those who planned the war should be prosecuted for war crimes either in federal court or before an international tribunal.

Let the Freepers deal with that.
