Hope is on the Way!
For the last week or so I've been closely following the goings on here at DU and I've got to a  to everyone here. With the DSM memo being brought into the light and hearings coming up, it gives me hope that this country has a future. I've learned a lot from DU and even the times I've been at my lowest when it comes to the country I love, I've found hope and strength here.

I'm only 40 years old and I barely remember Watergate, but it seems to me that bush has eclipsed Nixon's crimes by leaps and bounds...especially with the blood of our troops and innocent civilians on his hands.

I do have hope that we will come out on the other side of this dark tunnel we've been subjected to living under since bush and his cronies stole the 2000 election. Democracy will be restored and this country will be given back to the people.

1. With Sensenbrenner in charge of the Judicial Committee, it won't happen.
The Dems will have to have a very, very good year in 2006 in order to replace the pig who holds the gavel now, and then John Conyers will be the chair and--voila!--the natural balance will be restored.

2. You're more optimistic than me...
And I'm only 23. This will go nowhere. The only thing that will dislodge the Bushite regime is an armed revolution. I'm talking people flooding the streets of D.C., guns in hand, and physically storming the White House. Short of that, I see no hope, and that's about as likely as Fox news deciding to go Democratic.

America: Long on bluster, short on courage.

4. Count me in between....no armed insurrection necessary, just enough misery
to change some seats in Congress...regain the chairmanship of some committees and let the subpoenas fly!!!! There is enough dirt out there to bury the rethugs for decades.

7. "...bury the rethugs for decades."
That will happen only if we pass some laws to prevent public officials from returning to the public sector after convictions for felonies. Too many of the Nixon/Reagan crew were resurrected after their downfalls, and they are with us today. It's bad enough when they get their talk shows and think tanks.

6. Maybe the poster doesn't know...
About Diebold, EAS, ChoicePoint, the proprietary right to steal elections...

The sad thing is, we KNEW they were going to do it.

Why didn't John Kerry fight for us?

8. The hope still remains for me
More and more people are slowly waking up to the reality of the US as it actually is.

I have no illusions to how low these bastards will sink when it comes to running the country. I know that it's only temporary. Eventually people will get tired of it all. They'll fight back whether it's with a stick or at the ballot box. They'll fight back and more are joining our fight.

Even if it never happens in my lifetime, I believe history works against people like these. They will fall whether it's by their own devices or by the will of the people. Perhaps both.
