Question to DU Vets Concerning Gitmo.....
It's been stated by a Rebublican Senator that prisoners are eating glazed chicken and lemon fish while are men and women are eating MRE's. Gitmo has been their along time. Why haven't they put in a decent kitchen and mess hall to feed our troops? Just Wondering.

2. I think it depends on which side of the bay you're on.

The little strip of land I was on had an airstrip and some Marine barracks and some officers ummm, I'd call it a hotel not sure what its proper name would be. Oh and a small version of a PX.

I'm sure on the other side of the bay where all the real buildings were (it looked to be the older part of the base, beautiful old Spainish style from what I could see lol) they have that. I'm assuming they keep the prisoners on the side of the bay I was on in my time as it has the biggest flat clearing of land to build something like that like I said the airstrip is like right there too so would be easier to take prisoners.

But yeah, if they don't have a mess hall I'd just chalk it up to Marines being gung ho.

EDIT: Didnt' really get a good chance to see the place in my 6 weeks there as we were kept pretty much under lock and key while preppin for Haitian Vacation 94.

3. I don't think he was referring to the Gitmo personnel.
As Gitmo is a fully functional base with galley and many other amenities.

5. Gitmo
Thanks, that makes sense, but the inference that I took from his demonstration that the troops guarding these prisoners were eating MRE"s.

4. Wasn't he was referring to our people in Iraq and Afghanistan...
not the ones in Gitmo?

At any rate, since no one's been able to get into Gitmo to see how things really are, I would have my doubts about the fine cuisine our "guests" are getting there.
