Late Thursday night, Congress took the next step in restoring the TRIO funds eliminated in the President's budget when the Appropriations Committee approved the Labor/HHS/Education spending bill, which restores the money for ALL TRIO programs (including Talent Search and Upward Bound). It is the goal of House leadership to vote on the bill within the next two weeks. After this, the Senate will begin its work on the legislation. It is widely expected the Senate will follow the House and restore funding to the programs but it is important that we continue to outreach to Senators and their staff on the importance of TRIO.
