"National Clergy Council": Clintons USED Billy Graham for politics!!

NEW YORK, June 26 /Christian Wire Service/ -- National Clergy Council president Rev. Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK) walked out on his role model Billy Graham after the evangelist surrendered his microphone to Bill Clinton on the third night of his New York City crusade, then gave a veiled endorsement to Senator Hillary Clinton who was sitting nearby on stage.

Rev. Schenck has considered Billy Graham his role model for over 25 years. That's why the Capitol Hill minister traveled from Washington, DC, to New York City this weekend to witness what may be the ailing evangelist's last crusade. But after he saw the Clintons exploit the aging Graham, he couldn't bear to stay and hear him preach.

"I was stunned and appalled," said Schenck, who left the Flushing Meadows Park as Graham was still complimenting the Clintons.

"This was a deliberate, cunning, purely political move by the Clintons to divide the Evangelical vote and assure Hillary of a victory in '08," said Schenck, a minister with the Evangelical Church Alliance and a missionary to elected officials.

Rev. Schenck will remain in New York until Sunday evening and is available for further comment at 703-447-7686.

7. Rev. Grahm is a long time democrat-
if that bothers Rev.Schenck, he hasn't been paying attention very well-

And if he thinks everything that is done these days is to further the sick fanatical right wing 'christ' ocrats then the man is an idol worshipper, and that idol is NOT the Lord-

my ex fundie 'family' thought Rev.Graham was preaching heresy- and hated him for counselling Bill in those dark impeachment days- same with Tony Campolo and Bill Hybels- all men, who sought to help, encourage, and forgive.

14. Yeah, they're into punishment AS LONG AS IT ISN'T THEM.
Democrats, brown, black, or Asian people deserve punishment. But not them and their republican fundie asses.

I think they have one hell (no pun intended) of a surprise coming on of these days.

11. Billy Graham never struck me as stupid or naive enough to be "used"...
and although I don't agree with or believe in everything he does he has long struck me as someone who at least trys to understand and live in the light of true Christian love. This is more then I can say for many of these Fundamentalists who wouldn't know the true meaning of "Christian Love" if it bit them on the butt. All they know is fear, hatred, bigotry, and greed and seem to have forgotten much of what the Jesus of the New Testament taught about forgiveness, love, helping others, etc.

13. Billy Graham is a true christian
he's about the only famous evangelist that I truly respect and admire. He's made so many people's lives better and if there is a heaven it's going to be a great day when he arrives there

If he's still alive to endorse Hilary in 2008 I am gonna laugh my ass of when the fundies turn on him

19. Hear hear
I have way more respect for Mr. Graham then I do any of these rightwingers who are preachers. They preach the opposite. Fear, fear fear, hate, hate, hate. Mr. Graham is very bi-partisan as well. He was included in all the inauguration's except for present Bush's because he was sick. I betcha if some of these other rightwing revs were asked to speak at a democrats inaugration they'd curse a storm before they would.
I have some different beliefs of him as well (I'm Church of Christ) but he's definitley the type of evangelist I'd like.

27. Get a copy of Haldeman's Diaries
Read Graham's comments when he was hanging with Tricky Dick and the boys. He is NOT the saint portrayed by the mass media. Vile, anti-semitic, and hateful.

16. Only Repubs are supposed to be seen favorably with Christian leaders
What a hypocrite considering how the Repubs have been the ones gleefully exploiting the fundamentalist Christians for political gain.

23. I thought Graham was using THEM to make a statement.
They could not have appeared if he had not wanted them there. Besides, what major Christian right evangelical cons had the decency to show up to honor him?

24. Am I wrong in remembering this....Didn't *blivet claim that he was
'saved' after his talks with Billy Graham? Graham appearing with Clinton and Clinton's friendship with Poppy might just be making the boy in the plastic bubble very very mad.
