Syria Offers to Send Peace-keeping Troops to Iraq
Edited on Wed Sep-24-03 04:27 PM by BurtWorm
Remember just after "Mission" was "Accomplished" in Iraq last May, and the Bushists, feeling all cocky and smug, turned their attention to Syria? Damascus immediately proposed a complete disarmament pact in the Middle East, saying they would totally disarm if "everybody else" (meaning Israel, the major nuclear threat in the region) would also.

They've got an incredibly smartass foreign policy, those Syrians!

In remarks published yesterday, Expatriates Minister Bouthaina Shaaban said Syria - which bitterly opposed the US-led war on Iraq - was ready to commit troops if the US relinquished more control to the United Nations.

"Syria would be willing and all Arab countries would be willing," Shaaban was quoted as telling Lebanon's Daily Star newspaper. She was speaking in her capacity as foreign ministry spokeswoman before the reshuffling of Syria's government last week.

"If these two points are addressed, all the Arabs will be willing to restore security and help in the reconstruction of Iraq," she said.

"This is the only way to send troops to Iraq."

3. How About Our Friends The Saudis?
The deafening noise here are our "friends" in Riyadh...the ones who put up the folding green for Gulf Oil War I...and are nowhere to be found in this mess.

Now you'd think Prince Bandr would love to be a media darling...stepping up on the White House Lawn and handing that 60 billion dollar check to the Chimpster. But where is he?

Or there's our eternally grateful Kuwaiti friends who are now a lot safer from the pillage of Saddam (trading it for a Chalabi pillage instead) and not a dime of help there either. Guess playing the largest sandtrap/military base serves BushCo. just fine.

Also where's the Arab league? The summit in Cairo or Beirut or Carpetland U.S.A. to discuss what's going on in Iraq and present an "Arab front"/resolution to this mess?

I don't know what's worse...the silence of our "Arab" friends while Whistle Ass twists in the wind or their silence to their own people giving an official consent to this on-going travesty of international law.
