Wow great news
Of course he HAD a surplus to begin with. See I'm not overspending nearly as much as you thought. See how that's a good thing. It's amazing the "I'm doing a bad job, but not as a bad a job as you think approach has worked for 4 1/2 years."

Surging revenues and a steady economy have led the White House to project that this year's federal budget deficit will drop to $333 billion, nearly $100 billion below earlier estimates. "We're ahead of projections now," President Bush said Wednesday. Bush said the improving deficit picture vindicated his stewardship of the economy and budget.

3. These revenues are one-time events.
But they won't be telling anyone that part.

9. You Got It
They blew up the projections so that they could easily beat them. Many commented on this at the time and warned that the budget deficit projections were a sham to help the Bushies look good.

Add to that the complete elimination of any budget items that have to do with Afghanistan or Iraq and you have a complete budgetary smokescreen.

Business as usual for BushCorp.

7. That doesn't make up for a completely shitty economy.
I'm as sure that he'll find away to sink the economy further as I am that the media will spin this more than it needs to be spun.

8. But the economy is great
See if you were wealthy you'd be doing great in the Bush economy.

Much of the growth in tax receipts seems to have come from relatively wealthy taxpayers since the biggest revenue increases have come from quarterly payments on capital gains and business income instead of from withholdings from wages.
