14. Yes indeedy :)
Recall...NO!
Bustamante...YES!

I'm plenty old enough to drink. I don't even get carded anymore. I was a Republican in my youth, a cynic through most of my twenties, and now in my mid-thirties, a baby Democrat.

Ah, aren't baby Democrats the cutest things? :D

8. WooHoo....
Voting by itself is a great experience, but when you know you cast a vote for making people's lifes better it really feels good.

Congrats LadyHawk, welcome to the ranks of voting Democrats.

9. Hey, ME TOO!!!
Two days ago I sent in my absentee ballot - of course, I voted NO on the recall and YES on Bustamante and the front of my house is covered with signs as well as the rear window of my car. I didn't realize until reading LadyHawk's post that it was my first time voting Dem too :-)

And I've been voting Republican since 1988.

I've just made such a drastic swing over to the other side in the last year, that those Repuke days seem so long ago.....almost like another lifetime. I don't know how I stayed ignorant for so long.

But yeah for me that I finally woke up and smelled the coffee!

15. Yes, the same thing happened to me.
During most of my late twenties and early thirties politics I voted Republican. Public discourse on politics had become a cess pool thanks to Karl Rove Go-Negative-Early that I just became disgusted. During the last election, I handed in a completely blank ballot.

Of course, voting is a civic duty, but I wanted to make a statement: I'm sick of politics as usual, so the ballot was blank.

Then Bush happened. And it got really hard to ignore all the lies and the way the media were kissing up to him. They had lambasted Clinton during his entire presidency. All my life I had been told the media was liberal, so this made me go, "WTF????" I started searching...and oh my god, I found enough to make me cry a river.

I will never vote Republican again.
