Can we start organizing our very own relief efforts right here
at DU? Possibly start up an NGO in the weeks ahead? But in the immediate future, get a network of people on the ground with cameras, teams of volunteers to drive busloads of food/water to wherever we can get it and it's needed, and take back out a busload of people. Where do we take them? To safety. To people offering their homes. Our online team and network of individuals on the ground in the surrounding region will help get these refugees to safety.

Does that mean we could get observer status or something? Alas, I am an ocean away from any of the immediate action, though I'm already trying to imagine the New New Orleans for later.
