Mardi Gras... will come back bigger and better than ever
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 01:07 PM by Sgent
11:39 A.M. - Blaine Kern, Mardi Gras World: Mardi Gras will be hurt this year, but it will come back bigger and better than ever. I'll be helping anybody get their parade on the streets.

11:38 A.M. - Kern: Not sure if people in smaller parade clubs will be able to pay their dues. Haven’t talked to any of the captains of any parade krewes. The major krewes may hopefully roll.

11:37 A.M. - Kern: There’ll be a Mardi Gras, if I have anything to say about it.

Note ... Blaine Kern and Mardi Gras World are much of the infrastructure behind Mardi Gras. They create and manage the floats, map parade routes, etc.

1. Perhaps, but...
New Orleans itself is going to come back as a Las Vegas (or Disney) version of itself...

"Banana Republic Presents New Orleans"

A corporate sponsored New Orleans-themed vacation destination. Everything authentic will have been washed away with the "dirty" poor people. Nothing but sanitised corporate entertainment from here on out.

Sure, they'll have marti Gras. But it won't be any more "dangerous" than partying at Disney's "Treasure Island".

2. Good observation...I can see it now...
A sanitized parade and celebration with any flashers getting immediately arrested.

A vacation haven for all of the SUV driving repukes to come and bring their kids and catch the Mickey Mouse beads thrown from the floats.

No more hurricane (the drink) or beer stands in the streets. Replace them with non-alcoholic 'Hurricane Snow Cone' stands.

Wal-Mart will sponsor the music distribution and all CDs provided for entertainment will be 'edited' versions. A lot of dancing to 'Whoop there it is' and the 'Macarena'

The possibilites are endless..........
