Did YOUR local paper have the Rove talking points LTTE?
The Hartford Courant sure did. Nailed every point, from "state and local responsibility" on down. Of course, Hartford is one of the poorest inner cities in America, so perhaps Rove knew he had a special audience here.

2. Here Are The Talking Points...
- They could have gotten out when they had the chance, It was the mayor's fault.

- The city couldn't be saved, there were too many looters (codeword: blacks)

- It's too early for the "blame game" (those specific words)

- There were hundreds of buses that could have been used but were left in vulnerable places (as if Nagin knew those parking lots would flood) and should have been taken to higher ground (where brainstems? Especially when the Gretna police were manning the Crecent City Connection with guns refusing to let people cross.

- The federal is only in a support role in disasters, it's up to the state and local (then why did asshat want Blanco to sign state sovereignty over??)

And i'm sure there are more. And it doesn't matter if they're debunked...the Repugnicans game, and they do it well, is to say the lie often and without any hesitation...then it's up to the person to decide if they want to buy the lie or not. Most do.

4. pgh tribune-review editorial:
doesn't surprise me one bit (considering scaife owns it), it showed up there today. they covered trying to make it "state & local's" fault, but ended by saying something along the lines of now isn't the time to beat each other up. funny how that's how the editorial started off -- blaming the state & local government:

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/opinion/archive/s_371273.html

"The initial blistering of the Bush administration for its "late" response finally has been placed in perspective. State and local response -- the first line of defense -- left much to be desired. What happened?

Where's the outrage over Jesse Jackson's race-baiting on CNN? Where's the censure of rap "entertainer" Kanye West, who, on NBC's live fundraising concert, said: "George Bush doesn't care about black people." He was unchallenged. Host Matt Lauer later validated Mr. West's comments, calling it "criticism."

The footprint of the devastated area is estimated at 90,000 square miles. That's larger than the entire state of Idaho. It's twice the land size of Pennsylvania. Even "perfect" planning and mobilization likely would have been foiled by this storm.

Hurricane Katrina exposed serious weaknesses in this nation's ability to respond to a natural disaster. Thank God it was not a major terrorist attack. We can do better. We must. And we must identify and learn from our mistakes."

7. Mine did. I think he hit every one. It's all our fault you know.
Democrats have rushed to blame President Bush

Of course, to the Democrats, President Bush is guilty of everything.

The truth of the matter is that two Democrats are primariliy at fault for much of what happened.

Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin failed in every aspect before and after the hurricane. These two are accountable for this tragedy.

Blanco did not have the ability to lead or respond. Nagin ran to the plush Hyatt Hotel with all his buddies, and helped them to the front of the line when it was time to get out of town.

Both, being typical Democrats, blamed everybody else for what was going on.

In fact, their lack of leadership made them the problem.
