Southern racists and country clubs
My partners cousin got married at this country club in North Carolina.

It had a landscaped golf coutrse a band, the food was great and in"healthy sized" portions,it reminded me of a plantation. Itt was decorated in very elegant furniture,a butler and waitstaff all were there all black and basically silent and oh so I hate to say it this way"house".. Apparently the girl he married worked in a repug goveneors office. And he got her reception here for her.

Now get this.

I am a punk.and I am white.. I at the time had my mowhawk in a brilliant neon purple. I would not be caught dead in a dress if I could help it.For this I would be driving with my partners parents for HOURS to get to this wedding and reception. They had a dress code, There was a big discussion about whether I'sd be allowed IN the place at all with purple hair and my pierces.I HAD to wear a dress too.Being transgender I felt like I was in drag the whole time.
I basically stayed pinned to the table because I was not comfortable in female costume. The shoes were murder.I longed for my Shit kicker boots and jeans.I couldn't figure out how to sit.I felt like a buffoon. Anyways I was a curious buffon.. So I got up a couple of times to hit the bathroom and wander around this decadent hellhole and ask questions of the staff. The first black person was the bathroom maintenance/ cleaner. I asked her if there were any blacks as members of the club she said only the help. I asked how does one become a member of this club?

And Woowee did I get offended

First of all they check your RACIAL BACKGROUND..

Your mothers and fathers name.Than backl futher.

You HAVE TO BE WHITE on BOTH sides of your familty and have a SOUTHERN background, preferably a planter family to get into the rich white country club. You have to be able to trace your family history to your arrival here.Being a daughter of the confederacy helps, also you have to be a registered republican.
And you have to make a MINIMUM of 100,000 dollars a year.

If you are female you have to be a lady there,if you are a guy you must behave like a man. This said to me they don't want any dykes fags crossdressers or tranny people in the"club".. She was not that specific but I could tell that is what she meant with her euphamisms.

My tattoos would be "frowned upon" and my pierces must be healed up.
I would be required to grow out my hair and not dye it"unnatural colors".(hence the confusion about whether I'd be allowed to the reception)

I was really sickened and saddened by this whole thing and I NEVER want to set foot inside a racist gilded landscaped tastefully appointed chamber of horrors AGAIN.

THE RICH Racist pigs are OUR MORAL INFERIORS.

As for the ruin of New Orleans Hell yes. the whole thing it is RACIST and Classist.

2. The Augusta Country Club used to only hire darker skinned blacks...
My guess was that it gave it a "plantation feel."

I have gone from time to time to eat dinner with family who are members- And I'm with you-I dont like going either.

I have noticed a few more "Mullatos" in the kitchen over the past few years.

Everything you say is true- and there is so much more.

6. No
I don't EVER want to set foot in that sick ass place AGAIN
Golf is fun but it ain't worth it if you gotta hang around those ugly hearted rich racist republicans and keep your hair a "natural color" besides I haven't got the cash to belong to a place like that. plus I ain't white enough.I am Melungeon. And if one of these snotty lizard heatrted bastards made a snide remark about my gender or tats I just might crack my club right upside his noggin. Those piggy people are my moral inferiors ya know so I do not want to be seen with them.

3. I attended my cousin's wedding reception at a very similar NC country club
No big surprise really, but it is shocking to see the racial/gender/class bias spelled out so graphically.
