Bush blames Laura for dropping dog on tarmac (Barney)!
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 12:43 PM by LittleApple81
I think there is a story here, that family-values Americans might pay more attention to than the treasonous leaks.

http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/10/03/bush.poem.ap/index.html

Bush’s poem:

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Oh my, lump in the bed *
How I've missed you.

Roses are redder
Bluer am I
Seeing you kissed by that charming French guy.

The dogs and the cat, they missed you too
Barney's still mad you dropped him , he ate your shoe
The distance, my dear, has been such a barrier
Next time you want an adventure, just land on a carrier. **

*Note: Bush sometimes refers to his wife as a lump in the bed.
**Barney the dog had a tumble when Mrs. Bush was handing him to her husband on a tarmac.
And here is the picture

There is another link about the poem in DU:

1. I saw that!
Outrageous! It was clearly Dubya who dropped the dog! Or missed the handoff, in any case. Poor Barney, he's the real victim... :)

4. "Barney's still mad *you* dropped him, he ate your shoe"

-- pResident Bush, along with first lady, Laura Bush, and members of the Waco Midway Little League Softball World Series championship team, react as Bush accidentally drops his dog, Barney, Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at TSTC Airfield in Waco, Texas. Bush quickly scooped up the dog who was not injured.

"Roses are redder/Bluer am I/Seeing you kissed by that charming French guy."

And then the finale:

"The dogs and the cat, they missed you too/Barney's still mad you dropped him, he ate your shoe/The distance, my dear, has been such a barrier/Next time you want an adventure, just land on a carrier."

5. Laura would have had to THROW Barney from where she's standing!
And look at the distance between Barney and Bush. I think Georgie flung him away after being scratched or nipped.

Iraq. I think Laura is in the same situation right now. But she is a WILLING VICTIM (an enabler?)

10. Very telling about how he thinks of his wife "that lump in the bed"
Maybe we should start referring to her that way instead of Pickles. He is one sick son of a bitch.

14. Barney CHOSE to hit the tarmac.
When he realized that he was being passed off to the spawn of Satan, Barney decided to scramble out of his grasp and take his chances with the concrete. That sweet little dog despises the chimp with every furry little fiber of his being.

Whoever said that children and dogs are the best judges of character knew what (s)he was talking about.

15. So, this little ditty will be seen by future generations...
in the National Archives or the GWBush Library?!

Here is a man with a "gentleman's 'C'" MBA degree that must have missed an awful lot of English classes. That is really poor poetry, sheesh.

18. The most disgusting thing in that article is:
"A good book is like an unreachable itch; you just can't leave it alone," she said at the Library of Congress

:puke:

good lord, and I was having such a good evening until I had a mental picture of Pickles "unreachable itches".

If Mrs. Bush is saying that Georgie is a "great leader" as well as a poet...and we just saw the quality of his poetry...what does it say about his "great leader"

20. Poor, Laura. Is this a kind of cry for help?
As if to say, look what I have to put up with.

I think Laura absolutely adored being kissed on the hand by a gentleman from France, in beautiful palaces with elegant, sophisticated, literate, intelligent, open-minded society who actually know how to dine without falling off the couch and choking on a pretzel. A far cry from eating tacos in Texas with the Cheneys while George practices how to say "nucular" and picks his nose.

21. Thanks for this one Snellius. You are correct.
But maybe with all the Bush money, she has a chance to see other people who are not as crass. I cannot believe that Bush Pere is as uncouth as Bush fils.

27. You know what this reminds me of?
I'm picturing shrubya and pickles in a remake of the Shining,
with shrubya waving his little finger around and whispering, "Maddas!",
and then chasing pickles through the WH with an axe, holding the wrong side up. He eventually freezes to death because he can't find his way out of the Rose Garden.

Truly disturbing. ;-)

I don't think so. As corny as the poem is, I doubt Bush is capable of stringing rhyming words together like that.
