Republicans not showing ability to rule the nation

I have been a registered Republican for more than 30 years, and it is well past the time to admit the Bush administration is simply small-minded, inept, mean-spirited, vindictive, incompetent and inarticulate.

Please join me in voting out all remnants of anyone who has supported this administration.

While it is obvious that we must continue to support our troops, now that they have been placed in harm's way, most of the splendid National Guard members who would have significantly lessened the tragedy from Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast are immersed overseas fighting the Bush family's private war.

I pray the Democrats, or others, will finally field viable candidates whom open-minded and free-thinking Americans, including moderate Republicans like myself, can finally support.

And if I hear just one more radically conservative Republican imply that they are more spiritually pure or patriotic than I am, I will implode from a blend of frustration, aggravation and disbelief.

2. Unfortunately
it takes a catastrophe like Katrina to get repubs to see the light. Maybe all of the people that died in the aftermath sacrificed for our country. So sad.

3. I rejoice every time any American finally realizes the dire straits
into which this country has been driven; waking up can be hard to do. But this line really bothered me - "I pray the Democrats, or others, will finally field viable candidates whom open-minded and free-thinking Americans, including moderate Republicans like myself, can finally support."

John Kerry wasn't a "viable candidate whom open-minded and free-thinking" people could "finally support"? As most of you may know, I am no "Kerry-ite" by any stretch of the imagination, but if "moderate Republicans" and the others listed above could not view John Kerry as a "viable candidate", then letters like these don't mean much.

It sounds to me as though this guy wants a broad-minded, ept, good-spirited, non-vindictive, competent and articulate George Bush. I am glad this guy and others like him are joining the anti-Bush ranks, but it isn't just Bush's lies and his bungling that are the problems - it is everything that he and his supporters stand for that is the problem. Sorry for the "partisanship" this early in the morning (but it's the only ship I have a ticket on) :hi:

6. That struck me too.
Kerry is too conservative for this bleeding heart progressive. I would have thought he'd be right up the moderate Republican alley. Granted, my perspective if rather shifted. LOL!

4. Welcome to the consequences
I told every one I knew who voted for b*sh that there are now no checks and balances and watch what happens. Unfortunatly, I have to pay the consequences also.

5. You're right. "Welcome to the consequences"...
And as I said before, it is good each time a citizen wakes up to the horrible debacle that America has become; but it isn't like they were never told what was going on. These are the same people who for five years and through two presidential elections and three midterm elections continued to vote for these fascistic, anti-American thugs and told all of us that we were liberal cry-babies, terrorist-sympathizers, and conspiracy theorists. Now all of a sudden they say, "Hey, you know what? I think maybe this Bush bunch are lying and not good for the country." Oh, really? You think?

Again, I am glad for the turn around that these folks are finally coming to, but they have some responsibility for their own actions over the past 5 (or ten) years as well...
