Bush and FEMA are taking over. The Real Coup has begun.
We've seen what FEMA has tried to do in New Orleans and Louiseana.

They've started to declare emergencies in other states, because of the evacuees going to these states.

10. Bingo.
That's what it's about, not some tinfoil-bedecked scheme to force us into martial law (which I wouldn't think anyone here would believe they could pull off after the Louisiana fiasco, anyway). It's about under-the-table campaign cash.

A lot of these states are either barely red or aren't red but have Repuke state officials anyway. They're just going to be buying votes again. Expect people in Reno, Missoula, Fargo, Springfield-MA, and elsewhere to suddenly develop hurricane damage.

Counting the ones that already have it!

Martial law for 1/3rd of the country right around the corner. :scared:

4. If one could trust them, it's so that the receiving states
are eligible for Fed money.

Of course, one cannot trust them further than one could throw, say, Grand Central Station.

5. And just why is that an emergency?
There are evacuees here in Ga, Tn, and I'm sure a number of other Southern States. Why only the Yankees are emergencies??? I don't understand, unless this is another hoax!

7. Here's the Emergency Declaration for my State
Today the President declared that an emergency exists in the State of Ohio and ordered Federal aid to supplement state and local response efforts to assist evacuees from the area struck by Hurricane Katrina and to provide emergency assistance to those areas beginning on August 29, 2005, and continuing.

The President's action makes Federal funding available to the State and all 88 counties of the State of Ohio.

Specifically, assistance is available to State and eligible local governments for emergency protective measures that are undertaken to save lives and protect public health and safety. Emergency protective measures, including direct Federal assistance, will be provided at 100 percent Federal funding.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) named Janet M. Odeshoo as the Federal Coordinating Officer for Federal recovery operations in the affected area.

I'm afraid that this is no joke.

12. Do you have any idea how they determine the amount of
assistance at "100% Federal funding"?

I don't disagree with funding these states for their help. I think it's great that they are helping. My fear is that some or all of these States are going to take unreasonable advantage of what they will see as found money!

6. I believe this is so that states can collect funds
for all the extra expenses they will incur for education and housing and lots of other extra expenses. It is only fair that the feds help out the states.

26. Congress can't get together and create a bill to give money out
instead of declaring EMERGENCY, Yet they can hold a special session to keep a feeding tube in one brain-dead individual?!?! I have to believe there are much simpler ways to get these people money than to declare Emergency.

21. You are correct
Oklahoma was declared on Sept. 5th. Texas was declared on September 3rd.

However, this brings the Total States Declared to 37.

After all these people have done, and after all the death and chaos they let occur in New Orleans, do not for a minute think they are doing this for something that wil be beneficial to anyone but themselves.

than to declare emergency... this gives way more authority than just the ability to give money. It's like using a high-powered laser to cut a 2x4.
