I Have a Question About our "Beloved" first frump!

I know that many here at DU refer to laura bush as "pickles", but what's the source of the nickname?

I'm dating myself on this one, but Pickles was the name of Buddy's wife on the old "Dick Van Dyke Show". It would be rather funny if this was the source because Morey Amsterdam had the quickest and wittiest mind. I doubt that even the most ardent rethuglican would say that about bush jr. :hurts:

I saw someone write this here and I don't know whether they were joking or not. But ever since when I see her, I look to see if she's wearing long sleeves. So far, I haven't seen her arms.
