I-25 Was Renamed the "Ronald Reagan Highway" Yesterday
They put up signs along the stretch that goes through El Paso County (which includes Colorado Springs). I saw one this morning on my way to work.

Now poeple will get on the interstate and forget where they're going.....

1. WTF!
I'm going to have to call my congresswoman and demand that it change back to I-25.

NO WAY IN HELL COLORADO WILL EVER SUPPORT ST. RAYGUN.

Got a link?

I'm going to have to write a letter to her as well.

21. At least he isn't president anymore
Meanwhile, Fucking Bush as a school named after him already.

Sound familiar??? Saddam airport, Saddam Boulevard...

This is how Republicans build their legacy of lies.

What we need to do is to push to name EVERYTHING after Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton.

I-25 NAMED RONALD REAGAN HIGHWAY

Signs Dedicating Interstate 25 In El Paso County Unveiled

There'a a new highway in Colorado, sort of.

Interstate 25 in El Paso County is now also known as Ronald Reagan Highway.

Colorado Governor Bill Owens and State Senator Doug Lamborn dedicated the road in a ceremony Tuesday afternoon.

Lamborn and State Representative Lynn Hefley Introduced the legislation naming the highway during the last session.

Owens says the tribute to Reagan is fitting, "I'm just very proud that Colorado is honoring President Reagan in this way. He did a lot of wonderful things for our country and i think it will be a nice way to remember him."

Lynn is the Mrs of Joel Hefley. Been in the Legislature (House) for 3 terms. She'll be term limited, unfortunately he'll never be. The stretch of highway is aptly named Ronald Reagan, since it is a mess. Been tore up for months, years who remembers? been so long ago since they started upgrading, reconfiguring the damn thing. The entire I-25 running along the Front Range looks like the Road to Basra-the highway of death. Posted by Kentuck's wife.

2. Ouch...
Low blow. I feel kinda bad for hating Reagan since he has no idea what horrible things he's done, at this point.

There's also a Ronald Reagan Highway in Cincinnati, OH. I would imagine the country is peppered with them. People seem to love these champions of fiscal conservatism who double our national debt while in office.

I guess I'll have to find another route from Denver to get to Santa Fe next month.

Isn't this place supposed to be seismically active? Where's Colorado Springs' "Big One"?

10. Here's a way to avoid Colorado Springs

Take the I-70 east to Limon, then head south. You can avoid I-25 completely up until New Mexico (I think) -- that's US 40 or US 287.

Virtually every elected official in El Paso County is a Republican.

ON EDIT - It was passed by the State Legislature, according to a story I just found on-line:

I suspect the Lege knew better than to try and name it the Reagan Highway in the metro area. Between that and T-REX, they'd be utter laughingstocks until the end of time.

conservative county in the state. At least it's not through the entire state. Could you imagine that happening in Denver? People would flip out, I hope.

35. Pruneface changed the name of Cape Kennedy.
Shortly after his assassination, Congress renamed Cape Canaveral in honor of President Kennedy, the man who set the nation's course to the Moon. When the stooge Reagan and his CIA handler George Bush stole office in 1980 (GOOGLE: October Surprise, Iran), one of the first things they did was change the name of Cape Kennedy back to Canaveral.

In dishonoring the memory of the Liberal JFK, these small-minded bed-wetting goons epitomize what the modern GOP-kkk-NAZI konservatism is all about. Heil Bushler.

Sure we all hate Reagan since he is a repub and not a dem but is the bad press worth it? What if all the MLK streets were contested? We can't all be right all the time and others can't always be wrong all the time.

43. MLK good, Reagan bad
There is a right and wrong, you know. A person who fights for the rights of all people is generally good, whereas a lying scumbag who starts wars, funds both sides of wars to keep them going longer than necessary, and who betrays the laws of his own nation to fund terrorism that results in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people, including Americans, and undermines genuine attempts at Democracy is generally not good.

Naming a street after Charles Manson would be frowned on, and he personally never killed anyone, and he is responsible for a few hundred thousand fewer deaths than Reagan.
