Dobson. Who elected him?
This whole sordid tale is too berserk. The so-called President of the United States is courting a right wing fundamentalist evangelist freak. He won't go to the UN, but he'll go to the fundies. Okay.
Let us hope it is his downfall. James Dobson does not speak for me in any capacity. Never elected. Never served. Yet he and Robertson and Rush and that gang set themselves up as public servants. I think not. They are not ELECTED. They need to leave this stuff alone. Will they? Not a chance. They influence "power", such as it is.

Mr. Dobson, the influential founder of the conservative evangelical group Focus on the Family, has said he is supporting Ms. Miers's nomination in part because of something he has been told but cannot divulge. He has not disclosed the source of the information, but he has acknowledged speaking with Karl Rove, President Bush's top political adviser, about the president's pick before it was announced.

On his radio program last Wednesday, Mr. Dobson said, "When you know some of the things that I know - that I probably shouldn't know - you will understand why I have said, with fear and trepidation, that I believe Harriet Miers will be a good justice." He added, in a reference to aborted fetuses, "if I have made a mistake here, I will never forget the blood of those babies that will die will be on my hands to some degree."

2. You are absolutely right
why did Dobson say "with fear and trepitation"?

As a Christian, and one who is pro-life, I find what is going on here chilling.

These "Christians" are totally overlooking the fact that the Shrub administration has gutted programs to help the poor, fattened the wallets of the super rich with more tax cuts that have given us a crippling debt, not to mention a pre-emptive and illegal war based totally on LIES.

They talk about the "culture of life" yet condone capital punishment, the torture of prisoners, and the needless deaths of our soldiers and innocent Iraqis.

It truly makes me sick. :puke:

4. It's all the fundies they're appealing to
I was just watching MTP with Dr. Land, the Southern Baptist. He also got a call from Rove assuring him that Harriet Miers would do the "right thing". My husband and I asked each other why the White House is seeking their approval. Of course, we came up with the easy answer - money and more money.

It's getting so sickening that these so-called religious power people can be so consumed with taking away people's rights for any reason and then endorsing all the lying s.o.b.'s who have the blood of thousands of people on their hands and have stolen billions and trillions from people all over the world.

Their values are clear. Pay attention and make sure everyone else does too.

6. Does it take ANOTHER
Federal Grand Jury to get to the bottom of this?

He "probably should not know"? ? ? ? Then why the hell does he?
And why the hell don't WE?

And what are fetuses doing in a debate for SCOTUS?

What about Universal Health Care? If we give up abortion, are they going to FUND live births? I really doubt it. They can't even fund levies.

I have known and do know heartbroken women from abortion. Does that give anyone the right to stomp on their decisions? I don't think so. This is a very difficult subject. I HATE that the RW tries to make it so simple. It is not. They have no RIGHT whatsover to take away freedoms. Whatever they are.

off soap box

8. Sure doesn't seem to give a fuck about the Iraqi blood, or the blood
of the American poor, American sick, American hungry, American children...who all die because of republican "values".

Nope, fetuses only.

Oh, and Christians are persecuted incessantly in this country, and have completely lost their voice in the media and the government.

I guess that's why they're in charge. Because they're presecuted.

Fuck you, James Dobson, you fuckwit evil asshole unchristian bozo clown.

10. "...fear and trepidation." Rove told him 666 was just 999 inverted.
Dobson is a dangerous wingnut who has been out there for many years spewing bigotry and snake oil.

Like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, and many others, Dobson is just one more hate monger. And he makes a very good living at his trade.

I often sink into despair because of the sheer number of rednecks, imbeciles, and just plain poor, gullible people who buy the poison he's selling.

If there's a God, He/She/It must have had a good chuckle while creating ignorance.
