Who is this idiot Wendy Wright on C-Span??
Edited on Mon Oct-10-05 08:26 AM by berner59
She's some anti-abortion nut (Concerned Women for America - isn't that the thing Judge Robert's wife is a member of????) and some woman just called in and said she had a baby born without a head, carried it to term, of course the baby died and she almost died from hemorage...and then she was told if she had another one - she could be tested and then abort it and then try to get pregnant right away to have the chance to have a healthy baby...this woman was disgusted by Wendy and people who seem to want to tell her she has to carry a headless baby...

Wendy's response?? "Well sometimes Drs. are wrong and babies are born healthy..." This baby didn't have a head!!!! These people need to be stopped...oh my God!!!

1. Can Doctors Really Misinterpret A Sonogram?
By doctors I mean more than one looking at the same sonogram

3. Doubt it...
When a sonogram shows a baby doesn't have a head - I'd say that's pretty conclusive...

Wendy also said that it's better for the mother to birth the dead headless baby and hold it and love it for however short a time it can...that's more healing...oh right, this poor woman is hemoraging and she needs to take time to look at her headless baby - like she doesn't need any more trauma in her life...

It's FRIGHTENING that there are people like this out there AND being given a platform...

2. this is my biggest fear
no baby or expectant mother should be put through that. if the laws change, they very well could be.

right, a doctor could be wrong! it doesn't take a degree in medicine to view an ultrasound and see that a baby doesn't have a head!

4. I think it's time to reveal
that these people support not only removal of existing law concerning legal abortion, but they are against federal protection of citizens living in the US concerning the enforcement of the Bill of Rights and equal protection under law. These people are the enemies of modern humane decent democracy. They are my enemy until I draw my last breath. I want to spend the rest of my life trying to destroy their lives as they are trying to destroy mine.

10. i worked with guy who`s wife
had to carry a dead fetus for about a month because the insurance company wouldn`t pay for the operation to remove the dead fetus...i guess they figured it was god`s will or that jesus would resurrect the fetus. the guy and his wife were tore up for months afterwards

12. I know a similar couple...
and they were divorced very shortly after...how DARE our government tell us what to do with our bodies??? There is no way this will be overturned in my opinion...they can try but the backlash politically would be overwhelming.

11. Scare Women Into Chasity
Several years ago I had the rare chance to talk about sex with a fundie. It was quite a trip into the twilight zone. To say this person was conflicted about the issue and their own sexuality was an understatement.

The general gist I got was that not only was sex "bad" (strictly reproductive uses only) but that the feelings along with it...not just the horny but even the emotional attachments were bad. The only way fight something that feels good is to beat into the heads of the believers that good is really bad. Yep...the better the sex, the worse you're gonna feel. When you look at it, it's not that much different than their black is white views on many issues...distorted to serve an agenda.

Fundies and Repugnicans sure do have sexual hang-ups and this lady personifies it. The concept is to scare women not only about abortions (those baby-killer videos are made to traumatize young women more than any other group) but about sexuality and intimacy. Mind control isn't complete if you don't control the body as well...or at least in fundie world.

13. I missed it, but I hope at least one
caller told her to mind her own damn business.

My husband's elderly aunt is an anti-abortion nutcase who screwed up raising her own kids so royally that several have done jail time and they all have mental health issues. If she hadn't been so busy sticking her nose into other people's business, maybe she could have focused on raising healthy children of her own.

14. Info on Concerned Women for America
Beverly LaHaye founded it to oppose the Equal Rights Amendment. Check the site to see the issues currently being pushed by the Religious Right. (They don't like Victoria's Secret or Harriet Miers):

www.cwfa.org/main.asp

Beverly LaHaye met her husband Tim at Bob Jones University. Here's a profile from Sojourners magazine, detailing the couple's influential role in the growth of the Religious Right & the shaky theology behind his "Left Behind" books:

www.sojo.net/index.cfm?action=magazine.article&issue=soj0109&article=010921

Tim founded Christian Heritage College, now called San Diego Christian College:

The mission of San Diego Christian College is to equip Christians to contribute to society and thereby influence the world through knowledge, skills, and godly character within the framework of biblical and scientific creationism, and the authority and inerrancy of the Scripture.

www.timlahaye.com/linkgen.php3?link=http://www.christianheritage.edu/&last=timsbio

& he helped found The Institute for Creation Research:

Wendy Wright is not a Lone Nut. Unfortunately.
