Before Bush is out of office who will he Pardon?
Will the right wing or more importantly mainstream praise it or shame it?

Delay?
Libby?
Rove?
Miller?
Novak?

I am new to this politics game so I am not sure of what is all entailed in executive pardons. Has anyone else thought of this in the light of possible impending indictments?

4. Not sure if he can...
Because the case at hand involves his staff.

In the 1980's, Reagan didn't pardon any of the Iran/Contra guys because he hired them, but when Poppy Bush took office, he pardoned.

5. Was that because he legally couldn't or because it would
look bad?

7. Officials who get impeached and then prosecuted for the same general crime
can't be pardoned. That, I believe, would cover Cheney, the cabinet, and top advisors.

Article I Section 3 Clause 7:
"Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law. "

Article II Section 2 Clause 1:
"The President ...shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment. "

Article II Section 4:
"The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors."

6. I see thanks for the clarification
Hopefully a dem will be elected in '08 (not sure if we will have an America of yesteryear if not). So that at least these guys will not be pardoned.

I remember what a big stink was made of Clinton for last minute pardonings. I just wonder if that shame would be cast *'s way. And of course I bet it would not.

10. first, he'll pardon himself. then Cheyney, Rove, Libby, DeLay, Frist,
and the rest of the criminals in his administration. Maybe he'll pardon me, I have 4 unpaid parking tickets. BTW....is there any bigger scam than parking tickets?? I say no. Maybe car insurance, cuz you HAVE to have it, but I dont know.
