3. I agree, I'm afraid of that too!
I don't trust Miers BECAUSE Shrub appointed her, but I haven't heard her even speak more than one sentence! I'm at least willing to listen to her and judge her then.

I have listened to Janice Rodgers Brown, and in my opinion, she's as dumb as Shrub!

Many of the others on his short list scare me more than Miers!

4. I say "Bring it on!"
I have been waiting and waiting for a really big knockdown drag- em-out fight. If bush thinks he's being assaulted from the right, wait until he's gets it from us.

7. My nightmare: John Ashcroft.....
Edited on Mon Oct-10-05 07:44 PM by Rowdyboy
The senate would confirm him, "nuking" a filibuster easily, because he's a former member of the senate....

8. Pat Buchanan was putting his name out there last night on
Hardball.

I know the RR would like to see him there but somehow I get the impression that there is some bad blood between * and Ashcroft.

He must have had some sort of dirt or been owed some major favors to be appointed AG after being beaten by a dead man.

IIRC he was the first major cabinet officer to announce his resignation after reelection too.

11. It's the Devil I don't know that worries me
This will sound harsh, but it has to be said. We could do a lot worse than her. She probably won't be as bad as Edith Jones or a number of others who DO have substantial judicial experience. And she doesn't look healthy at all. She's 60, so she could kick early since she looks very unhealthy, in very poor shape.
