Olbermann putting together report on "13 terror alert coincidences"
Keith Olbermann put out a new blog today that's mostly about the baseball playoffs, but when you read down into it, you find an incident in which he tells of having recently learned that Yankee Felix Rodriguez watches his Countdown show, then says:

This is not a gratuitous means of getting Rodriguez’s compliment into a blog. It’s designed to underscore the variety of people who’ve identified themselves to me or my staff as regular viewers of Countdown - the people I’m thinking of as we’re putting together special items like the upcoming report on the coincidences of the last four years in which bad news for the Bush Administration has been followed within days by a terror alert or similar terror-related news story.

Man, I hope he had no plans of going to the Yankees-Angels game tonight! I can't wait for this!

4. No, FELIX!!!!!
Read the blog. He's a relief pitcher. ("F-Rod"??)

And Olbermann IS on tonight--and he IS going to cover the subway threat!

7. No, it's F-Rod, all right.
Olbermann says:

Pedro Gomez, the ESPN reporter, was passing the time with me when his old friend Felix Rodriguez passed in front of the dugout. In the last year-and-a-half, Rodriguez had gone from being a very good relief pitcher with the San Francisco Giants to a not-very-good relief pitcher with the New York Yankees, but he had remained one of the sport’s most popular people.

Pedro went out to greet him and they conversed in Spanish. When he returned to the bench, he had a smile on his face. “One of your viewers,” Gomez said. “He said to me ‘Is that the guy who used to be on ESPN? Who does the news for NBC on cable? I watch him all the time. He’s great.’” I don’t know who was more surprised - Pedro or me.

Please, people...read before you assume my ignorance, OK? Thanks.

11. Sorry I don't presume ignorance
I just thought it was a simple mistake. I follow the Yankees and had never heard his name. I can name several of their relievers but never came across Felix. I wonder when was the last time he played.

2. The story of the 'coincidences' really needs to be told!
Perhaps other journalists will grow a set and follow his lead. Go, Keith!:applause:

6. They already covered that story on Countdown.
And trust me, if you ever watch Keith, you know he doesn't need to grow a pair, he's always had 'em.

8. I wasn't talking about Keith
It was Babs' "Perhaps other journalists will grow a set and follow his lead" that made me go looking for the link.

See? I even have a needle and some thread to help sew them on.

10. I see. That's a good thing.
And you may have to use that heavy-duty thread while you're at it.

9. I was just talking about this a few days ago in reference to the
NYC terror alert (which no doubt was a publicity stunt for Bloomberg as well.) I though I saw a while back on DU a list of each alert and it's corresponding Bush Administration scandal that it was trying to divert attention from.

Glad KO's on it.
