When will Janeane Garofalo be a regular radio host, again?
Is she only doing 3 episodes of the TV show "The West Wing?"

1. Sorry, is Janeane off AAR?
I don't listen to her regurlarly. Was this amicable or a difference of opinion with Sam Seder?

3. She's taking time off to film 3 episodes of "The West Wing."
She's supposed to return after filming the episodes, but she's missed dozens of of "Majority Report" broadcasts and counting.

I have a special interest in her because she's Canadian and she started on our local TV station in Toronto, CITY-TV....

7. janeane
No, Janeanne is not off Air America. During yesterday's majority report, janeanne said that she wasn't sure whether her character on West Wing was going to be extended for additional episodes, so it's still unclear when she'll be back at AAR full time. She is, however, still the co-host of the majority report, along with Sam. Nothing has happened between them, she is just in California until her character's run is over.

5. I like Al Franken's show.
But I'd like to also be able to listen to "The Majority Report" with both Sam Seder and Janeane Garofalo.

12. I liked it better with Katherine Lanpher.
I hope he'll get another co-host (or her again) eventually.

But since Al Franken is moving to Minnesota in January, I doubt he'll seriously look for a co-host before then.

11. Agreed, sadly
Al was only marginally OK with Katherine Lanpher, but by himself his show's a train wreck. He's too deadpan and he's no Jack Benny. He's very funny in person but his humor just doesn't work on radio.

I'd love it if Rachel Maddow, Joe Conason or Thom Hartmann got his slot. Al belongs on TV, not radio.

Not that he's SO bad, but I would much rather have Maddow.

26. I liked her old show with Lizz Winstead.
I didn't get to listen much because it ran during work hours, but it was funny and insightful. Maddow is a natural for radio as is Springer, but she doesn't bring the baggage that Jerry does.

Pretty much any slot would be OK with Maddow, but I'd like to see her get more prime-time positioning.

34. I liked that a lot too.
I was really surprised when they went to Springer, who has not been the disaster I expected but really isn't all that good. I'd rather have AM Sedition, Maddow, take one or all of his hours.

29. I don't know, I guess that depends.
Are you sure it's only 3 episodes? Even if it is, the show isn't scheduled around her availability - maybe the filming days are spaced weeks apart and she's just hanging around the set in the meantime.

but obviously the TV producers can change that to more or fewer.

20. She is playing a great character, a quick witted, take no crap
communications advisor advising the dem candidate, Santos. I hope they do extend her appearance beyond 3, she is very good. The back and forth between her character and Josh are very funny, she is as quick with the quip in this character as she is on her show.

14. I actually like Majority Report with just Sam better...
I love Janeane's politics and agree with her on almost everything, but as a radio host she grates on my nerves. I think she's a great actress, though.
Sam is much more of a natural on the radio, explains things better, and doesn't go off on those philosophical tangents like Janeane is prone to do.

19. Have to agree
Janeane is awesome, but she's not a radio personality. Sam is. I have the same feeling about Al Franken. He's a terrific person and very funny, but his schtick doesn't work on radio.

I listen every day (I was listening to AAR while reading this until #$%#@ Alan Colmes came on!) and I support progressive radio, but it isn't enough. If it's going to go anywhere, it has to be appealing.

Limbaugh, for all his lying, spinning, and butt-kissing assholishness still has one thing going for him - he knows how to do radio. We need voices on the radio that people want to listen to, otherwise progressive radio won't grow the way it has to. Al himself said it best by saying (I paraphrase) we will win the debate by being funnier, smarter, and more entertaining than they are.

Sam is better by himself, IMHO. That said, I'd rather see Rachel Maddow take her place. She keeps on track and doesn't go off on tangents like Janeane does. Besides, Janeane is freakin' beautiful. I hate that she's wasting that gorgeous face on radio.

at least for tonight.

(On "The Majority Report" usually the last word said is "peaches.")

22. Different opinions
Everyone has his or her opinion on this subject.

Personally, I think Janeane is great. I think she is brilliant. She speaks with knowledge and passion. She also UNDERSTANDS that you should not give airtime to the wingnut assholes the way some of the other hosts do. She has actually addressed that very question on the show, saying that we have to listen to them all the time as it is.

As for that screeching woman who was on with Al Franken, good riddance.

Alan Colmes is so pathetic that I absolutely cannot stand to listen to him.

See, I told you it was all just a matter of opinion.

28. Janeane is brilliant
I don't think Janeane's intelligence is as apparent on radio. Perhaps if she had a late night slot like Malloy she'd come across better. Malloy has a hard edge that isn't ready for prime time, but it works great at 11:00pm when I've finished reading the day's news and am pissed off at the world. I like Janeane better when I'm in an angrier mood.

As for Lanpher, she's a pro on the radio, but she lent little to Franken's show except to keep him on time and throw cold water on his less-funny gags. She was also too middle-of-the-road. I won't miss her.

As for Alan Colmes, he's a Faux asspuppet.

You're right. It's a matter of opinion. And I feel better having screamed, don't you?
