The Republicans May Incite Martial Law To Stay In Power..
Edited on Wed Oct-12-05 06:55 AM by GOPS Worst Fear
Does anyone here really think the Repukes will go down without a fight? If everyone who is anyone goes down in the Republican party ..what makes you think they will just roll over? They are so corrupt and drunk with power,IMHO opinion...it would be the logical LAST Step.

Any thoughts?

6. Not when it comes to stupid people. Otherwise * etc would have been
in jail years ago. In fact, he wouldn't have been elected in the first place.

Stupid people are stupid people no matter where they live. A little bird flu here, a little terrorism there and the majority of people will plead for * to stay in office forever.

3. THEY WILL CRANK DIEBOLD counting bias up to 100% before they do
anything dealing with the military - the GOP is afraid of the military - afraid of serving their country by being in the military, and afraid of the honor code and patriotism.

That is why they sey up their own little mafia's in CIA and State amd the WH, along with "special" ops in the Pentagon.

9. And even that.
.... will only work so much. You cannot steal a race with a 10% margin, nobody will believe exit polling is that far off.

You can steal one with a 3% margin. Until we get this voting crap cleaned up, we have to win with more than 3-4% of the vote.

5. ...
I'm confused. How does one incite martial law? Are you saying the military is planning a coup?

8. Does anyone here..
... really think they even have the support of the military any more?

Of all the things I have to worry about, this is down near the very bottom.

12. ....
Friend of mine just got back from an 18 month tour in A'stan. Apparently the support for the war there is very strong among his fellow Reservists from the Virginia Guard. Another close friend of mine is in Iraq with the 48th Georgia...he says that his unit is all gung ho too. Hell, I don't know what to think anymore.

15. Afghanistan..
... is not Iraq.

I'm not talking about rank and file soldiers anyway, I'm talking about the chances that military leaders will join Bush in an illegitimate declaration of martial law.

I don't think so.

10. Been saying this since * was installed
Doncha think that the Reich, er, Right wingers were ready to start a "civil war" if Sandy D.O. swung her vote to Gore on 12/12/2000?

Osama bin Laden would have just been sitting, laughing, watching the carnage on satellite TV - "Faux news, reporting live, from in front of the illegaly occupied White House . . . "

13. Dude, you have hit on MY worst fear!
Seriously, the whole bird flu epidemic talk makes me nervous as hell. This president is exactly the kind of guy who would do it.

He's always reminded me of the character in the Book/movie THE DEAD ZONE - the president who believed he had a destiny.

I think winning in 06 is everything. We have to stop them, and having the House would do it.

16. looky here! northcom is already making martial law plans...
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/10/11/disaster.force/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. Northern Command is considering establishing a new military unit capable of quick response to major natural disasters, like hurricanes, floods or earthquakes, according to NorthCom officials familiar with the internal discussions about the concept.

(snip)

The plan is being described as analogous to contingency combat forces, like the Ready Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, which is always on standby to deploy within 18 hours.

(snip)

Senior NorthCom military commanders have been told in recent weeks to start developing operational concepts, a major task being the airlift of military and medical assets, the official said.

(snip)

But recent base closures have reduced some of the military's medical capacity, and war games have shown that it would be overwhelmed during a large pandemic, the official added.
