Talkleft: No indictments tomorrow
Edited on Tue Oct-18-05 07:17 PM by jim3775
For those who dont know TalkLeft is a highly respected legal blog. They just posted this:

NBC Reporter David Schuster just said on Hardball that the grand jury will be meeting two more days this week and maybe into next week. Since any indictments won't be public until they are done, it doesn't look like tomorrow is the day.

If there are last minute plea deals, the details will be contained in written plea agreements. For any deals that involve reduced charges from those the grand jury might otherwise indict on, Fitzgerald will want the deals iron-clad and signed before releasing this grand jury. If a deal falls through, he'll need to have the grand jury still in session to issue a last minute indictment.

Also, the grand jury could still be hearing evidence from officials who are making last minute deals.

OTOH, if the indictments don't come out until next week, it will give me enough time to collect the money I'm going to win in tomorrow's Powerball drawing and throw a truly humongous indictment party -- I'll rent the Metrodome, buy a few hundred gallons of Glenlivet and invite all of you.

4. It would be so nice to actually see the legal system
working and getting the bad guys. And yes, that would call for a party. I'll bring some munchies.

3. Give Fitz plenty of elbow room. The timing is great legal strategy
that plays in his favor as well. Sign by this date and the deal is on the table , if not one full felony count for you. Also, the timing is playing with their heads really bad and they don't know who has a deal and they can't compare deals because there are only three plea shopping days left. A legal vice grip and he can still lower the boom by extending the Grand Jury should new facts be found!

Oh my, this really will be a legal thriller one day on the bookshelves or the big screen. Made for TV just won't do!

:applause: for Fitz!

5. Fitzgerald -- the thinking woman's hunk
My apologies to DH; fortunately for me, he thinks it's funny that I have a crush on Mr. Fitzgerald ;-).

In the meantime, the champagne is chilling. I'll have an extra week to get it good and cold...

:toast:

6. I think they are misinterpreting what he meant
He said there could be indictments tomorrow, since the GJ meets on Wednesdays. If not tomorrow, then Friday or Monday because that is when they meet and they are almost at the end of their term.

7. Norah O'Donnell also said this......
......she said on Hardball tonight that we would not see indictments this week. I can't remember her exact words but she hinted that indictments wouldn't be out until next week.

I have mixed feelings about the indictments. On one hand, I just want to know what's going to happen! But on the other hand, I want Fitz to keep going if he thinks he can prove more illegal behavior. We all know these guys are capable of criminal behavior!

9. I didn't hear Schuster say that at all
My opinion of what he said was that the Grand Jury had until Oct 28th and meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays so with them meeting tomorrow if an announcement does not come then look to Friday and if not then Monday ...etc.

11. No one knows when indictments will come except Fitzgerald and his staff.
Anything else is pure speculation. It could be tomorrow, Friday or next week.
