He sure didn't waste anytime politicizing the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma. What a piece of shite.
http://sptimes.com/2005/10/25/State/Fast_and_furious.shtml

Gov. Jeb Bush, visiting Naples immediately after the storm, praised Florida emergency officials while blasting Louisiana officials for their response to Hurricane Katrina, a more powerful Category 4 storm that devastated the gulf coast two months ago.

Bush said Florida relies on local emergency managers, rather than waiting for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to leap into action. FEMA and the governor's brother, President Bush, have been sharply criticized for the federal government's disorganized response to Katrina.

"In the case of Louisiana, it was left to the federal government to fill a void, and the consequences are there for the rest of the world to see," Bush said.

Kind of helps, not having to rely on FEMA, when your brother is the Preznit and you are the governor. Let's wait a few days and see just how well you've responded to what those people are now going through in Florida. So far, doesn't look too good, but then last year's hurricanes in your state were right before the election.

2. That's funny, the news was full of reports that FEMA had prepositioned
load after load of supplies for Jeb and Florida...I guess he turned all that help away.

4. That's right...
FEMA was bragging on how they pre-positioned all this stuff.

So I guess Jebbie just did everything himself, huh? FEMA doesn't exist. He never uses them during hurricane relief.

5. So does this mean Jeb's going to have his son John
get drunk and go fight elected officials physically in New Orleans like he did those cops who arrested him for drunk and disorderly?

Just curious, mind you.

10. Guess what, he's not running again. Surprise, surprise, but he'll get his
oil buddies lined up to profit before he leaves, then probably get his job in the private sector (with an oil company) and start raking in the dough. What a disgraceful bunch the Bush boys are.

I am assuming he will be running in '08 to maintain the dynasty. Assuming of course, that we will be allowed to choose.

15. What a fuckwad. Katrina was an unprecedented hurricane.
And the feds had been raked over the coals because of their failures before, during, and after Katrina.

Wilma was a much less potent storm. You can't even compare the two.

19.  Unfortunately, Jebbie graced us with his presence
What he fails to mention is that Naples Florida has an average household income of over 70K and that includes a huge population of retirees. People here have cars and can afford to buy 500 dollar generators and stock up on water and food supplies. We had more than a week to prepare. He also doesn't mention the fact that most of Naples was built AFTER Hurricane Andrew so the homes are raised, the exterior walls are concrete block, the roofs are tiled and are strapped down securely. The pitch of our roofs is strictly controlled, the soffits can't be more than one ft wide.

I bought a generator this summer and was lucky to have been able to affort to buy the 500 dollars worth of plywood to board up the house last year. My house was built in 1998 and meets all current hurricane codes (except for having builder supplied shutters - a requirement that took effect in 2001)
