2. You've got my vote.........
the media is burying this but hopefully the trial will blow the top off of it. I don't see how they've kept it this quiet so long, but I can't see it staying under the radar forever. At least I hope not. There must be some tremendous pressure on the media to bury it though.

6. This is so important. AIPAC is a lobby for war.
It works to deceive and delude the American public, to bribe and coerce politicians into supporting policies for war and occupation.

In December, there is, as usual, an aipac dinner here in the Bay Area. As usual, we hope to dissuade the most liberal politicians not to go. (forget about the mainstream politicians, but even Barbara Lee has attended these events, though to her credit she has not done so in the recent past) Mayor Jerry Brown will welcome them to Oakland. Mayor Newsom will welcome them to San Francisco. Congresswoman Woolsey just a few months ago went on a tour with them to Israel.

This is where Democrats need to reevaluate their relationship with a political lobby that works against the interests of peace and justice.

A few decades ago, few politicians would criticize the NRA. Now they are routinely criticized and politicians, from progressive districts, would not associate with them. I hope that is soon the case with AIPAC.

8. Hear. Hear. And they own our Congress. It's why we are making
irrational decisions to launch unprovoked invasions into Iraq, Iran and Syria. It is why our war voting Dems won't say the war is immoral/illegal.

7. This trial is really important
Edited on Sun Nov-06-05 08:53 PM by meganmonkey
With so much going on in the same time frame (e.g. Alito hearing, maybe more from Fitzy) we really need to keep an eye on this one.

It is just as scandalous as (the rest of?) Treasongate, and may have just as great an impact on our country.

Kick and Nom!!!

www.counterpunch.org/boyle08022003.html

""My Alma Mater is a Moral Cesspool"
Neo-Cons, Fundies, Feddies and the University of Chicago
By FRANCIS A. BOYLE
Professor of Law, University of Illinois School of Law

It is now a matter of public record that immediately after the terrible tragedy of September 11, 2001, U.S. Secretary of War Donald Rumsfeld and his pro-Israeli "Neoconservative" Deputy Paul Wolfowitz began to plot, plan, scheme and conspire to wage a war of aggression against Iraq by manipulating the tragic events of September 11th in order to provide a pretext for doing so. Of course Iraq had nothing at all to do with September 11th or supporting Al-Qaeda . But that made no difference to Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, and the numerous other pro-Israeli Neo-cons in the Bush Jr. administration.

These pro-Israeli Neo-cons had been schooled in the Machiavellian/Nietzschean theories of Professor Leo Strauss, who taught political philosophy at the University of Chicago in their Department of Political Science. The best expose of Strauss's pernicious theories on law, politics, government, for elitism, and against democracy can be found in two scholarly books by the Canadian Professor Shadia B. Drury: The Political Ideas of Leo Strauss (198 ; Leo Strauss and the American Right (1999). I entered the University of Chicago in September of 1968 shortly after Strauss had retired. But I was trained in Chicago's Political Science Department by Strauss's foremost protege, co-author, and literary executor Joseph Cropsey. Based upon my personal experience as an alumnus of Chicago's Political Science Department (A.B., 1971, in Political Science), I concur completely with Professor Drury's devastating critique of Strauss. I also agree with her penetrating analysis of the degradation of the American political process by Chicago's Straussian cabal
Chicago routinely trained me and numerous other students to become ruthless and unprincipled Machiavellians. That is precisely why so many neophyte Neo-con students gravitated towards the University of Chicago or towards Chicago Alumni at other universities. The University of Chicago became the "brains" behind the Bush Jr. Empire and his Ashcroft Police State. Attorney General John Ashcroft received his law degree from the University of Chicago in 1967. Many of his "lawyers" at the Department of Injustice are members of the right-wing, racist, bigoted, reactionary, and totalitarian Federalist Society (aka "Feddies"), which originated in part at the University of Chicago.

Just recently the University of Chicago officially celebrated its Bush Jr. Straussian cabal, highlighting Wolfowitz Ph.D. '72, Ahmad Chalabi, Ph.D. '69, Abram Shulsky, A.M. '68, Ph.D. '72, Zalmay Khalilzad, Ph.D. '79, together with faculty members Bellow, X '39 and Bloom, A.B. '49, A.M. '53, Ph.D. '55. According to the June 2003 University of Chicago Magazine, Bloom's book "helped popularize Straussian ideals of democracy." It is correct to assert that Bloom's rant helped to popularize Straussian "ideas," but they were blatantly anti-democratic, Machiavellian, Nietzschean, and elitist to begin with. Only the University of Chicago would have the unmitigated Orwellian gall to publicly claim that Strauss and Bloom cared one whit about democracy, let alone comprehended the "ideals of democracy.""

11. Pelosi and AIPAC... It is true love.
Pelosi's unconditional support for AIPAC, including her supporting the Annexation Wall, attacks on Palestinian civilians, is extreme.

The truth is, the Bush Administration has been for a more balanced policy (in lip service only) regarding Israel than Nancy Pelosi (Pelosi criticized Bush when he has given lip service to the unjust policies of Israel. She has even teamed up with Tom Delay to defend Israeli extremism)

See more here:
http://www.tomjoad.org/Pelosi.htm
Links to speeches Pelosi has given to AIPAC meetings, she absolutely fawns over them.

NOTE: Do not blame me because a Democratic leader is doing this. I wish it were not the case. Please dont delete this message.

20. Wow! That is stunning news ~
Has she been asked about the Spies in the Pentagon case? About Larry Franklin's guilty plea? And what possible interest could she have in an organization that promotes unnecessary wars? Did she vote for the war and what is her position on it now?

I agree that this is a very important case that has received practically ZERO media coverage. Normally, spies in our government would be headlines!! Not to mention the fact that Larry Franklin was in Italy along with Ledeen during the discovery of the Forged Niger Documents. Who is really running this country, I'm beginning to think there was a real coup d'etat of this entire government.

17. More on the IMPORTANT Case--Abandon hope, all who enter here.
Abandon hope, all who enter here.

http://www.vaed.uscourts.gov/notablecases/index.html

Yes folks, this trial, these trials, are taking place in one of the few courts that operates efficiently and on time. It's Federal Court, Eastern District, Virginia (Alexandria). They do things very efficiently and if you're guilty, you're found guilty. This court lacks a nasty agenda, it just grinds out cases.

This is going to rock ouir world. There will be testimony on a number of things of great interest.

And here's more: A Chronology of the Crimes of Franklin...ouch, wouldn't wanna be him!

http://intellit.muskingum.edu/spycases_folder/franklin.html

SPY CASES - UNITED STATES
Lawrence A. Franklin

Materials arranged chronologically.

Graham, Bradley, and Thomas E. Ricks. "FBI Probe Targets Pentagon Official: Analyst Allegedly Gave Data to Israel." Washington Post, 28 Aug. 2004, A1. <http://www.washingtonpost.com>

Government officials said on 27 August 2004 that the FBI "is investigating a mid-level Pentagon official who specializes in Iranian affairs for allegedly passing classified information to Israel.... The name of the person under investigation was not officially released, but two sources identified him as Larry Franklin. He was described as a desk officer in the Pentagon's Near East and South Asia Bureau.... Franklin worked at the Defense Intelligence Agency before moving to the Pentagon's policy branch three years ago."

Risen, James. "Pentagon Official Suspected of Giving U.S. Secrets to Israel." New York Times, 28 Aug. 2004. <http://www.nytimes.com>

According to government officials, an FBI espionage investigation is focusing on "an official who works in the office of Douglas Feith, the under secretary of defense for policy.... The F.B.I. has gathered evidence that the official passed classified policy documents to officials at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee,... which in turn provided the information to Israeli intelligence."

etc.

The complete lack of media attention should be a red flag to me. The media have a way of tipping their hand toward the forbidden fruit. I recall the big negative NewsWeek spread on JFK the movie weeks ahead of its release based only on the script. I new I had to see it!

Read the - don't just read about PNAC on some blog.

Read the actual issues -- as if they don't have an effective voice in Washington.

The AIPAC issue needs to be addressed in the FULL LIGHT OF DAY, in open and frequent discussions and in the media.

Your posts look like a preteen ran through the thread.

If this doesn't interest you don't read it.

60. That's Jim "I post at Little Green Footballs" Sagle's M.O.
He always does it whenever that murderer Sharon is rightfully maligned.

It's become something to look forward to, like watching a dog try to do calculus. Bewildering, but hilarious!

51. I would go so far as to say...
AIPAC does not represent the interests of the people of Israel. It represents the corporate interests that want to rape and pillage the Middle East, placing both Israel and America in harms way! Witness Iran's desire to eliminate Israel entirely.

Do you know about NSC 68 written by Paul Nitze?

Are you willing to pull back the curtain?

Go back even further and you might reveal conspiracy theory plots to play marxism against capitalism. I won't post any links because it might be against new rules against conspiracy theory site postings, then thread gets shut down.

...in order to rid ourselves of every traitor who put the interests of another country above our own, then so be it.

No tolerance. No excuses. AND NO MORE FOREIGN CITIZENS WORKING IN THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF US GOVERNMENT. I don't give a shit WHAT country they are from.
